  1. You can find the application online at http://dept.lamar.edu/nursing/ Go to the BSN screen and it is on the bottom. You do however need to apply both to the university and the nursing program. I can't remember if they are the same application or not.
  2. docomo, are you still in the program? were/are you in the BSN program? I'll be starting this Fall. Any tips or advice for a new nursing student? thanks!!
  3. Hello! I'll be attending Lamar in the fall for the BSN program. Hope all of you on the wait list don't have to wait much longer!
  4. brndnw- congrats to your acceptance! when did you send in your application? hope i get a call soon =)
  5. oh! quick question....how long were your essays? I spent a lot of time thinking about it but less time writing it---just nervous about the essay portion. I wonder how much it applies to the admission process?
  6. I've sent in my application...I don't think anyone got accepted yet. I spoke with the secretary and she said they don't start looking at the applications until the deadline is over--although she didn't sound too confident when saying that. good luck! =)
  7. @ jbbolendz, I'm hearing the same concern in Philadelphia and here in Texas (where I currently live). But from what I've gathered, I think you'll have an easier time if you are willing to move to where the jobs are. I'v read that there is still a high demand for nurses but they are usually in the midwest or in smaller towns and cities that people don't choose to move to. I think if your flexible in location, you might have an easier time finding a job. Hope this helps! -Han630:up:
  8. HI All, I'm wandering if anybody completed he BSN Express program with a kids and family. I have 2 young kids and just wandering if it's really possible to be able to handle the Express program and a family at the same time =) I guess I'm just getting nervous! Thanks!
  9. Hello! Congrats to those who have started the accelerated program. I have a general question about the accelerated and regular BSN program....are the classes online? how often do you have to go onto campus? what are the clinical schedules like? I live in beaumont (2hrs away). I was thinking if I only needed to be on campus 1 or 2x a week I can just commute. Thanks!
  10. Hi, I was wandering in general, what is the job description for a nurse extern? I've several job postings but they are very vague. Also, if you get hired as a nurse extern, can you use your time working as "experience" when applying for RN positions after graduating? I was looking up job postings for RNs in my area because I was curious if the 2 large hospitals in my area were hiring (I live in a small town) and all the RN positions required or "desired" at least 6 months of experience and so I was wandering if I worked as an extern, I could use that as part of my experience. Thank you for your replies! PS: I LOVE THIS SITE!!
  11. What helped me the most was reading and rewriting the notes or the main parts of the notes everyday....I remember once I read the same notes 3 days in a row and on the third day, the light bulb went off and it all made sense! A+P is tough if you try to cram or even study a day or two before the exam, it's hard to retain all that info....study it little by little. Good Luck!
