Casey Tate, I looked at our BACC2 schedule we got in our packet and I don't see anything about a test on the first day. If there happens to be one, I would assume it would be strictly diagnostic!! (hoping) How do people know to dress biz cas? I figured they would have put something like that in our packets?

Oh and how long does it have us on campus each day (T/R/F)? I know I will get my packet in the mail tomorrow, but I am super bored and anxious at work, lol.

VRA21: Where did you end up deciding to live? Did you find a place yesterday? I am going down on Tuesday and I'm in the same position as you (moving from out of town and have no sense of direction). Wondering what you decided to do. I have heard several points of view on the situation. Either they tell me to live on the island because I'll be close to campus/other facilities, live halfway in between med center and the island, or live in the med center because most of the time during the program, I will spend more time doing clinical than I will on campus. A mutual friend of mine finished the Bacc2 program this past April (it used to start in April). She has been able to give me a lot of insight into the program. I figured we (everyone in the bacc2 program) would be on the same page, so we could get togther and work on things together. But she told me that she and her roommate would sometimes do homework together, but everyone is on different schedules than others. You may have clinical at different times than your classmates, or have study times different. She also lived on the island and said if she had to do it over again, she would live off, like Clear Lake. She was also in the program during Ike and had LOTS of her clinical in the med center. But she has told me that she was unsure if they were still sending as many students out there since it has been a while since the hurricane. But I have heard, on here and other places, that if you live on the island you WILL have clinical on the island, they are reserved. The prof I interviewed with told me the staff was going to be very accomodating to students in terms of assigning clinical based on where the students live. She said that after they have the final roster of students (I'm assuming at orientation), they will collect addresses and assign based off of that info. I'm so ridiculously over going on and on and on in my mind where I am going to live, based on all the information I've gotten. It's all so different and confusing. My mom told me: bite the bullet and pick somewhere to live already!! Its only a year!...So ultimately I just have to make a decision. There are obviously pros and cons to every option.

emag, I am relocating from DFW and have a couple of friends that live in the Houston area. Oddly enough, they live in or around the medical center. Realistically, how far would the commute be from there to Galveston? I am in the BACC2 program where all my classes are online, but will obviously have to come to campus for lab-type stuff. But like everyone else, I have heard a million different things about where our clinicals MIGHT be. I guess I am just wondering what your take on taking the gamble and moving to the med center is? Are you BACC2 or generic? Does anyone else have an opinion? I need some input! Plus, I'm coming to town for ONE day next week to find a place. I need to narrow down places to look!!

I know a lot of you are from the Houston area, but does anyone know about where to take CPR cert in the DFW area?

Hello All, This is a little late but oh well! Although I joined and started and finished reading this blog yesterday, I have been dealing with UTMB for as RIDICULOUSLY long as everyone else!! I applied for Bacc2 before the deadline and never heard anything from them up until TUESDAY (the 10th)!! I was one of those annoying girls that called every week (at least twice) checking to see when interview requests were going out and when the last day for interviews would be. Finally on Monday, ***** told me they were legitimately done sending out all interviews and the last bacc2 would be on the 13th. And I didn't get one! So I had her pull my file. She was silent for seriously like 3 minutes and then she started saying "oh my gosh oh my gosh." Turns out, enrollment services had mis-coded my transcript to where it said I a zero for my science gpa, implying that I had an incomplete app. Therefore, SON had never even seen it. I was flabbergasted!!! I asked her how I could be treated fairly with everyone else and still have a chance at an interview. I have to say this wasn't the first time I was maddened during this applicaiton process! Needless to say, ****** called me at 1pm Tuesday asking me to set up an interview for this Friday the 13th (hopefully no bad luck coincidence with this one!). I am excited now, but a little worried. Does this disorganization bode terrible things for the future? Or is it supposed to get better once we're in school? Haven't yall heard of the saying "it never gets better than when you're dating?" As in, if it sucks now, it will suck worse later? Just looking for some uplifting words! And wanting to join in on discussions!

Hello All, Although I only joined today, I have been reading this blog for its lifetime. I applied before the deadline, and up until today had heard NOTHING. After speaking with one of the ladies in the office yesterday telling me that all interviews were done being sent out, I knew something had to be wrong. I had her check the status of my application and when she pulled up my file, she realized that my application had been misread by Enrollment Services. They put that I had no science GPA, making CON see that i had an incomplete application. Therefore they never reviewed it. It was completely incorrect. I have had my prerequisites done since July 2! Frustrating, huh? needless to say, someone called me from their office today scheduling an interview with me on Friday at 2:30. Has anyone on this blog received their acceptance letter yet? I know two girls that interviewed on the 16th and we both accepted! Good luck all!
