guess i'll get our thread started. i've watched these over the last few semesters, and it's a great way to share information and get to know each other.
i applied earlier this month, and got an e-mail this evening letting me know that i am eligible regarding my prerequisites. i was surprised to get something back so quickly since the deadline is july 1. anyway, that's the first step in the process...a long, long process. :) hopefully, there will be plenty of us on here to keep each other company.

I have the early morning clinicals as well. I hope to have early morning labs. I am still trying to figure out how I am going to pay for this. I am eagerly waiting to hear from Financial Aid.
Did anyone else who registered get a lab or two added? I was given a Friday lab from 7am-3pm, though the schedule listed 3 separate labs, #1@7am-10am, #2@10am-1pm, @3pm-6pm with 33 students per lab. But no Tuesday or Wednesday labs have been added yet.
yes, i saw that financial aid was awarded today. i called to ask about the scholarships was told that it will be a while before they are awarded. i am going to wait to see if i get any scholarships before i accept my loans. half of them are unsubsidized, and i would rather not have to use them if i can avoid it.
as for labs, i'm not sure when they will be assigned. maybe they will assign them during orientation.
has anyone tried to buy a parking permit online? i go through the process, but it doesn't process my card. i tried two cards, and neither would work. any ideas?
On the parking passes: I was told by someone at UTHSCSA's police dept that if you want a zone V, you might be able get them now but it is lot 17 at the corner of research and medical and you will have to ride a shuttle to school. otherwise, you need to get on the waiting list for a better parking space. I was told zone I has about a 2 year waiting list but zone II has about a 3-6 mos. waiting list. I was also told, as a future student I may not be able to purchase a parking permit until Jan. So I put myself on a waiting list. Otherwise, I do not know why you are having problems trying to buy one. Could be that you are not a current student or just a glitchy payment program.
On the financial aid, did you go through the counseling as mentioned in your letter? I think you can decide not to take the money before you receive it, but if you decide against it now, you may not be able to get it later. I took that online thing way back in September and I do not remember exactly what was what. I know I need to take everything offered though, as I will be cutting 32 hours off my work week and I am the only bread winner in my family. As it is, the 8 hours I will be working will only pay my insurance premiums and flex accounts. I suspect what they are offering me will not be enough assistance to us. I worked more this year than last and I am worried that it will negatively effect my financial aid come August.
@ keili30- hey i just wanted to let you know that i didn't receive my scholarships at the begining of the semester. the first scholarship i received was in the last week of september, the second was the 2nd week in october, and the third i got the last week of october. i had to take out my loans in order to pay for tuition and books and then when the money came from scholarship (if you get them) they were used to pay for loans i used in the first place. :)
there are also student organizations on campus that can give you access to stipends, paid internships, etc... that can help you as well.
@friendly...thanks for the info. guess i will go ahead and take all that is offered then. i am usually over eager and try to do too much and had planned on working full time while going to school. over the last few days, i have come to realize that is not very realistic. so...i will really need to depend on whatever loans, scholarships, etc. i get.
the next thing i'm trying to check off my list is parking. can you give me a little heads up on how that's working for ya?
@keili30-First you might need to purchase a permit for the LOT 17 (farthest away) and get on the wait list for either LOT 9, 10, or 11 (you pay the difference between LOTS). These are the nearest to the school. :)
Hey chicks and fellas (if theres any), I will also be attending in the Spring of 2011.. My name is Alexandria Urias but I go by Sandy. I'll be commuting from Boerne. I haven't registered for classes yet cuz I'm still tryin to finish up my Hep B series...Hopefully my clinical time and lab times are still available by the end of this month, nervous bout that, but super nervous about leaving my girls under someone else's care..I've always been at home with them.. Ok!..enough of that stuff... I just settle the hectic parking permit stuff.. They told me that its best to purchase the Zone 5 parking and put myself on a waiting list for the others, which I went ahead and put myself down for Zone 4 because at least its on campus and once I get into Zone 4, I'll put myself down for Zone 3.. These parking spaces will always be available to me as long as I renew it before it expires.. I'm putting off purchasing my permit because it'll be no use to purchase it this month when I'm not even on campus..
I'm hoping to register for the clinical on Wednesday 6:30-1:30 University Hospital; Course 3305 Lab on Tuesday 8-10am and Course 3110 Lab Friday from 7-10am.. I really hope this schedule works out for me because my girls will be in childcare, so the earlier the better ..
