Sutter Health New Grad program unpaid.
What I want to know is what happen to the new grad nurse. I saw the one "new grad nurse," who posted about how great the 3 month training program was and how she was hired by Sutter after she completed the training, only posted that one post, never again to be seen on allnurses.com. Makes me think she was a plant or a troll. So how's this program working out now? Tori

I would start now, especially by checking the school of your choice's deadlines. You can always update your transcripts or send your stuff minus your transcripts. Tori

I am not going to worry about parking until January. I do not think classes start until the 10th, so the parking lot, even 17, should be pretty empty during orientation. I am hoping that the space i am on the waiting list for comes open before Jan. 5th so I can park closer to the campus. I will be disappointed if the space I am waiting for does not come open til August of 2012. Tori

Oh, and about the malpractice insurance, I wish it would stay $10.00, even after we graduate. Tori

Does Regional Accredidation matter?
Regional accreditation affects the transferability of earned credits. Are you going to be happy as an ADN or do you want to go for a BSN or higher in your future? Do you think you will never decide to get a different degree in a different field? Schools that are not regionally accredited offer classes and degrees and certificates that will probably not be accepted at other institutions. For example: an associates degree from a Sanford Brown or Kaplan (for-profit) school will not be accepted at Cornell or U of M or UCLA or even my school UTHSC in San Antonio. That means, the decision to pursue a Baccalaureate means going back to school and redoing the first two years to get all the basics back in to qualify for the Baccalaureate program. The funny thing about those non accredited schools, seems it can cost 5x's as much for an ADN as one from a local Community College, so, if you take out student loans, your earning potential may be limited to repaying student loans. Also, I have heard, and it could just be rumors, but degrees offered from for-profit colleges may not be a good thing to add to your resume. As I do not work in Human Resources, I am only repeating what I have heard and not personal experience. There is a thread on this forum about for-profit schools that I would suggest you look at. Also Huffington Post had an article about the graduation rate of for-profit schools. Anyway, good luck which ever way you decide to go. Keili Thank you for your hard work. I am with you in that I can not purchase anything til I get my loans and such in. I believe our disbursement date is Jan 3, which leaves us a few days before we can pick up text books and almost nil chance of getting used books. The main problem with Amazon is that the books may arrive late. Tori
