UTHSCSA Spring 2011 Hopefuls

Published

hello all,

guess i'll get our thread started. i've watched these over the last few semesters, and it's a great way to share information and get to know each other.

i applied earlier this month, and got an e-mail this evening letting me know that i am eligible regarding my prerequisites. i was surprised to get something back so quickly since the deadline is july 1. anyway, that's the first step in the process...a long, long process. :) hopefully, there will be plenty of us on here to keep each other company.

look forward to getting through this process with you.

@tori...i'm in austin, so i just took my cpr class at austin community college continuing education classes. it was only from 8-1, so half a day sounds about right. you just have to make sure that it is for healthcare professionals. mine was about $65. if you go to the american heart association website, it will tell you where to find classes in your area too.

Hi Tori,

I got my CPR certification through Rescue CPR. They are $35 per person and offer the health care provider cert. with the American Heart Association. The cert. is valid for 2 years and you get it the same day. Classes are offered mornings, afternoons, and late afternoons.

I really enjoyed the class, hands on and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommend it!

Here's a link with upcoming classes.

Tori-lunch sounds good, as soon as we both get some time. Between school and my business, there is not much free time right now, which may be good practice for what's ahead of us. I'm used to being busy, so hopefully it won't be that much of a transition. Potluck at orientation might be a good way to get to know our classmates-good idea.

check your e-mails guys...i got my badge and email setup information today.

Me too. One more thing off of the check-list!

Hi All

It actually means a few more things added to the list. Once you activate your email, check your in box. I got two new things to do. Heavy sigh.

I did get my fingerprints taken yesterday and I am planning to do the CPR tomorrow morning (8am-noon). It is closer to me and since i am off tomorrow, I don't have to request a day off and it will be finished before my daughter gets out of school.

Tori

oh and yeah, mine was the same badge number on my transcript evaluation.

:jester:

Tori

there are only a couple of presentations you need to watch. you can pretty much go at your own pace. just general information but good to know. bonus is you get to print a certificate after one of them. LOL!

And who couldn't use another certificate?

Good news, though. The fingerprint guy seemed to think the process would only take a few weeks and not the "up to six months" we were warned about. It seemed like that could be a bottleneck to registration.

I was told to expect something in about 1 week. But I expect the up to 6 months refers to those who have things that need to be cleared up.

Tori

hi everyone...just wondering by when do we have to have all this complete..is it by time we go to the orientation??
