hello all,
guess i'll get our thread started. i've watched these over the last few semesters, and it's a great way to share information and get to know each other.
i applied earlier this month, and got an e-mail this evening letting me know that i am eligible regarding my prerequisites. i was surprised to get something back so quickly since the deadline is july 1. anyway, that's the first step in the process...a long, long process. :) hopefully, there will be plenty of us on here to keep each other company.
look forward to getting through this process with you.
Did anyone have luck with the email address? It kept sending me delivery notification messages so I ended up faxing my 4 pages in, without the ID number on them (don't know it)
@kelli- Did you go to the financial aid office? I called them and they said they wouldn't be able to process my FAFSA until I have been processed through the registrar's office.. were you given similar infomation? Thanks!!
@katya...i haven't made it there. i e-mailed my information to one of the financial aid counselors earlier today. i got a similar response that they will not do anything until i have matriculated (as the email said ). once i matriculate, i have to let them know. glad i didn't waste a trip, if that's all if would have been told. i also sent my acceptance documents in. i didn't have any problem with them.
IMPORTANT FOR ANYONE EMAILING IN THEIR DOCUMENTS:
I talked to someone today, asking if the school had received the documents I had emailed on Tuesday, and they responded that they had been having some trouble with that email (SONAdmission email).
I highly suggest that you speak to the Admissions office (the number is at the bottom of your acceptance letter), and either fax the response form, deliver them in person, OR, use the email I was given to send my documents to: [email protected], then call and confirm they received them.
Good luck everyone!
Hi
I am new here. I hand carried my 4 documents to UTHSCSA this afternoon. When I hand carried my transcripts, I dropped them off near the school of medicine. This time I had to carry them to the School of Nursing, which was an unexpected walk. I am all for hand carrying anything that needs to be turned in. SAC originally gave me transcripts from the class I audited in the fall of 1982 and nothing else. I noticed the envelope was quite thin, so I asked the receptionist if she could open the envelope and check out the transcripts. After waiting for someone else from the office to observe, I was shocked to find what SAC had given me. I drove back, got the correct transcripts and turned them in. If I let SAC handle the transcripts, I probably would not have been offered enrollment. While email and USPS are usually very good, i am not willing to be an unwitting victim of a rare incident and have to wait for another chance to apply. My next step is fingerprinting.
If anyone is interested in my statistics:
prereq gpa: 3.54
TEAS: 87.9
Age: 46
Well, I never wanted to be average.
Anyone here from SAC? Looking for familiar faces.
Tori
Hi Everyone,
I was looking over the information packet again, checking to see what needs to be started immediately, etc.
On immunizations: are we required to have a titer on the hep B vaccine? It says we are required to have a titer, but no titer is necessary if no posts were drawn. Seems ambiguous to me. I got my final hep B immunization on Sept 8th (just after receiving my offer to enroll email) So, I should (at the very least) get a titer after Nov 8th to make sure all my ducks are in a row. I guess I would rather have something I do not need as opposed to not having something i do need.
(Student Health Center - Immunization Requirements)
And the scholarship form.
Look forward to hearing from yall.

Tori, good you finshed your series, but you will want to make sure you converted. It took 4 shots for me to convert. Everyone is different, I had mine done in the military a million years ago. But just fyi.
Everyone
I faxed my info in, I guess it wouldn't hurt to make sure they recieved them. Good info guys. :)
I did the fingerprinting yesterday it takes all of 1 min. I got their early and they take you right away.
Only a few more items on the checklist now to go. :)
Keep posting everyone, you guys are the only people I can share this experience with so thank you for letting me know what is going on with you guys.
:) Have a great day.

Greetings All! Congrats!
Unfortunately, I was put on the waitlist for Spring 2011. After reading the post I have a good idea why. My TEAS score was not that high. Other than that I already have a degree in another health field. Im a little shocked and disappointed.
For all of you that got accepted, What is your final deadline to notify them that you have accepted the slot? I'm trying to get a idea of how long I would have to wait to see if I'll get picked up off the wait list.
Hey M2011
How long after your last Hep B immunization should you get a titer to see if you converted? Also, the UTHSCSA web site states we need two measles vaccines, but my HEB pharmacist told me his protocol is one measles for those born after 1957. (He told me he would go ahead and give me the two I wanted as he understands that I do not want to lose my place in the nursing program, he just wants me to wait about 2 months between doses.) Is there a titer for measles, mumps and rubella as well?
I have at least three vaccines to worry about, and I am positive I had chicken pox when I was about 5 or 6 years old, so i want a titer for that one as well.
Anyone else nervous?

Hi everyone, I am new to this site and would like some questions answered. Is anyone applying to the Accelerated Track Summer 2011 Program at UTHSCSA?
