UTHSCSA Spring 2011 Hopefuls

Published

hello all,

guess i'll get our thread started. i've watched these over the last few semesters, and it's a great way to share information and get to know each other.

i applied earlier this month, and got an e-mail this evening letting me know that i am eligible regarding my prerequisites. i was surprised to get something back so quickly since the deadline is july 1. anyway, that's the first step in the process...a long, long process. :) hopefully, there will be plenty of us on here to keep each other company.

look forward to getting through this process with you.

Thanks friendlysmile. That is practical, helpful information. There is a lot of "information" that floats around, but the only good info comes from those who really know. Thanks again.

By the way, any help on first semester book list would be helpful. I would like to see if there would be any savings by buying early through Amazon or some such seller. My experience with Amazon is that if you really need it fast, it ends up being the wrong edition, or I find out its backordered after they take my money.

i know that the school is moving toward electronic books, and from what i've read that will start in may of next year. as far as books are concerned, i wonder if we will go that format too, or if it will only be for those that start in may and after.

friendlysmile...have you heard much about it?

Hello,

This is my first time posting on this forum and I have found so much information. I would like to say congratulations to all those who have got accepted into UTHSCSA's nursing program. I went to their orientation session last week and I am very excited to start my application process. I am a military spouse and we are going to be here for 2 1/2 more years and I would really like to get into nursing school.

I noticed someone said they completed all there prerequisites in one year, how did you do it? I am deficient in Chemistry and would like to know what chemistry did you all take, where did you take them and were they online?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Hello folks!

I was just wondering does the letter get sent to our permanent or local address?

Thanks!

Hi all,

This is also my first time posting on this board. I've been reading them for a couple years now and this time I finally applied. I just wanted to respond to Aggie2005 and say that I got put on the alternate list for Spring 2011. I was disappointed at first but realize that there is definitely still a chance and I'm not losing hope. :) I emailed and asked the chances of the alternates getting in and they said they never can tell because its different every semester. I'm excited to read the process you all are going through! Congratulations to all who got in!

Hi everyone, I just seen this site recently. Congrats to everyone who applied, that is the biggest step. I am excited to see what next year brings our way. I was trying to find out what the syllabus looks like, but no luck. Does anyone know? I go to the open house on the 30th, hopefully I can find out there. Just wondering what the chances of working at the same time is going to be.

Again Congrats to all. See you in Jan :)

M2011..is open house mandatory?? just wondering...also do you know when we'll know what books are required..thank you!!

open houses are just informational forums for prospective students. they provide a lot of information, but it's mostly about the admission process and the different programs they offer. at this point, if you've been accepted, i don't know how helpful it will be.

i think once we get our student e-mail accounts set up, we will start receiving information that way.

so has anyone gotten information about setting up the e-mail account? what about badge/ID no.? we need to have it for the forms we need to fax back by friday.

I finally got my packet woot!

Hey I just wanted to make sure...so we fax back just two documents by friday? The white Response sheet and the bright orange Code of professional conduct?

I just wanted to go to the open house, because I have zero idea about the program, except for the little you can read about the school on-line. Plus I have never even been to the campus. So for me it will be helpful, it sounds like Kelli30 is the most familiar so probably take her advice. I already sent back my forms with no id # on it. I am sure they are aware they we do not have the #'s.

As far as the books are concerned, again I know nothing. Sorry to be of no help. :( I am running off enthusiasm only. :)

Congrats on getting your packet. Hurry and turn your stuff in by the deadline.

Any new info on anything I am happy to hear about. I have my backround check apt today.

@cchoi...i think there are four documents that need to be returned:

-intent to enroll response sheet

-multiple consent form

-code of conduct form

-confidentiality/security acknowledgment form

there is a checklist sheet that lists the fax number and email address in case you want to email the documents.
