UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN Summer 2015

Published

Hi everyone!

I looked and looked on here but I didn't see a thread for people applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Accelerated BSN Summer 2015 program, so I thought I'd start a thread. I just submitted my application (kind of late I know). How's it going for everyone?

Wow that's really expensive..I hope my insurance will cover that.

Which Heb did u get your TWINRIX vaccine? I've been asking around and can't find places that do the combo. Most doctors offices don't have the combo

I just went to do my background check and the guy told me that it is first come first serve in the order they process so do it as early as possible!

I'm supposed to do my background check tomorrow morning. :) Just got done with the BLS for Healthcare Providers. Now headed to HEB to get my titers done. Heard Any Lab Test Now is the cheapest place to go if your insurance doesn't cover the cost of the titers (Hep B - $49, MMR - $129, Varicella - $49), but it looks like HEB is the cheapest (Hep B - $49, MMR - $90, Varicella - $59). Walgreens offers the TWINRIX vaccine, but in order for them to give it to you your PCP has to approve it first.

Arent most of these (not all) immunizations required by the state for students in grade school? Which would in turn mean that titers results would help confirm most of us have recieved these vaccinations in the past and not have to repeat the enitre process. Just a thought =)

You are right. I only had to get 3 shots because most of them I already had from high school. I took a record of all my immunizations so didn't have to repeat most of them.

Does anyone know if you got the hep b series as a child do you have to redo it or can you just get the antibody titer?

You will just need the titer.

Awesome, thanks!

Good to know lalapenna! I scheduled mine for tomorrow morning! I have all of my shots, I just need to get the titer for Hep B, the FLU shot (to make it easier for paperwork processing), and the TB BAMT. Has everyone else had regular TB tests or do they also have to do the TB BAMT?

I'm having the 2 step baseline TST done.

How long does the TST baseline test take?
