English is my second language. When I took TEAS I couldnt finish the reading part in time. Therefore, I am worried about my HESI. A friend told me that I can choose any part to start, such as math or A&P. It counts total 4 hours, but does not separate from each part. Is it true? Or just like TEAS, each part is independent. I am afraid that I cannot finish the reading and CT in time. One more question, Can I skip the difficult question and go back later? Thank you for your helping and good luck for everyone![/quote']

Each section of the hesi is independent. You get to choose which one you do next. You can do A&P first then reading then critical thinking then vocab then grammar, etc whichever way you want! I'd suggest doing math and reading as your first two sections. For me they took the longest and had the most questions. The reading took forever and then for math it was easy but the calculator on the computer is "sticky." So I kept rechecking on the calculator to make sure I typed it in right and didn't miss a number. A&P is quick if you know your stuff and so is vocab and grammar. The personality and learning style sections are quick. The critical thinking probably took me 30 minutes. Just to give you an idea!

No you go at your own pace. You start out with 4 hours and it just keeps ticking down the whole time. You can spend as much or as little time on each section as you want! But you can't go back to any questions that you've answered and you can't stop reading halfway and skip to reading. You have to finish each section once you start! And if you take a break and go to the bathroom it will pause it for you and you can come back! I'd suggest going to the bathroom first and taking atleast one break or you'll wear yourself out!

I took my HESI yesterday and submitted my application. I remember it saying they would email me with a way to check the status of the app. (I'm assuming with portal login info?)

However, I still don't have an email. Did it take them a few days to email anyone else? Or should it have been pretty much immediate?

Here's my HESI scores:

Reading: 90%

Grammar: 96%

Vocab: 100%

A&P: 84%

Math: 90%

Critical Thinking: 870

Cumulative score: 92%

Learning Style: Kinesthetic/Analytical

Personality Style: Calm/People

I think my GPA is around 3.6ish right now. I've finished everything except Microbio, which I'm taking this summer.

They said it will take around 2-5 days. I got mine the day after but I took it over the weekend so they probably weren't as busy then! It will send you like 3 emails all at once. It won't take too long!

Hi guys! I'm also applying for Spring 2014. I take my Hesi on June 28th and I'm a little nervous about it. I've been studying, so hopefully I do as well as some of you have done! I think I'm mostly concerned about the A&P and math portions. Right now, I have a 3.5 science gpa and 3.7 nursing pre reqs. I'm in Micro right now, so hopefully I can bump the science up to at least a 3.7. I will post my scores as soon as I get them! I hope we all get in!!

I ended up with a 90 overall and 850 in critical thinking.

I was hoping for something a bit higher, but the A&P section kind of blindsided me. The questions on the HESI were nothing like what was in the Elsevier book or any of the other study guides. I had a few questions relating to the heart, but most of the rest were really random.

A&P & math were my 2 lowest sections with an 80 in each. The math score completely took me by surprise because I felt like I did really well & I had studied it like crazy. I kind of suspect the sticky calculator and the amount of fill-in-the-blank questions.

If I don't get in this time around, I definitely plan on retaking the HESI.

I got an 80 in A&P too...it was so many different broad topics it was hard to study for. I told myself the same thing, if I don't get in for spring ill retake the hesi this November and apply again for summer...

I have already received a course eval and I'm not even finished with sending my stuff in! Wow this is happening fast! However I was told they do not use dual credits as adding into the GPA. They told me they were only accepted credits so my GPA is lower than it should be. I guess I will be calling tomorrow to see what I can do about that!
