UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

Oh no! So glad I don't have any dual credits then. Hopefully you can get something worked out. Did they email you the eval or post it on myUTH?

No mine was mailed to me! And I guess someone at the information session did not clarify correctly. I called this morning and yes they use every grade even dual credits! In case anyone was wondering

Thank goodness!!

Does anyone know when they will start notifying applicants of acceptance or rejection? I was browsing the forums and noticed that the deadline for spring 2013 was Sept 1 & they started receiving notifications mid October. But our deadline is August 15, so I'm hoping that means we'll only have to wait until the beginning of October ;)

Got home & my course eval was in the mail too! The only issue that I'm seeing is that they're saying I don't have a chemistry credit (which I took last semester) but they're showing everything else that I took that semester.

felicia, how did you apply before you had your hesi scores? I'm just wondering because I want to do that too because I want my course evaluation done! :)

Just give them a call and they will look over it with you over the phone if you have questions. I find it's best to call early in the morning...and directly call the Admissions Office- the number is on the website and they're very helpful!

I just followed the instructions on the UTHSC SON site to apply & paid the $60 fee. Then when that was complete, I sent my transcript over electronically. I heard that it was better to do it this way, so they have a file started on you before you start sending them stuff & they have no where to put it.

I am so confusing with their instructions. Please help me, I have not ready for Hesi yet, I intend to take it in July 15 after this summer semester over. How can I send them all of my transcript electronically? do you have any program for that? or Can I mail to their the Registrar Office?

Thanks much !!

I took my HESI yesterday and submitted my application. I remember it saying they would email me with a way to check the status of the app. (I'm assuming with portal login info?)

However, I still don't have an email. Did it take them a few days to email anyone else? Or should it have been pretty much immediate?

Here's my HESI scores:

Reading: 90%

Grammar: 96%

Vocab: 100%

A&P: 84%

Math: 90%

Critical Thinking: 870

Cumulative score: 92%

Learning Style: Kinesthetic/Analytical

Personality Style: Calm/People

I think my GPA is around 3.6ish right now. I've finished everything except Microbio, which I'm taking this summer.

WOw! Bravo ! I am about going to take Hesi, but I am so nervous. The most nervous parts are critical thinking and reading because English is my second language. Do you have any keys to help me over come these two part. Thank you so much !

Hello Everyone!

I've been reading this thread for a while now and decided to join it as well=). Everyone here who had posted their HESI stats has very impressive scores!

I'm also applying to UTMB as my second choice and I am wondering if anyone else has taken both TEAS and HESI already. I recently did the TEAS a few days ago and I end up scoring 87.3 overall. I'm planning to take the HESI at the end of the month; so I am wondering for those who have already taken both tests, how did you find the difficulty of the HESI in comparison to TEAS?

I know that for HESI, it is just anatomy as opposed to TEAS and of course you got the vocab and critical thinking. But, I'm hoping that if the difficulty of the math and reading/grammar sections of the HESI are relatively the same, or perhaps a little bit easier than TEAS, I can spend more time on studying for anatomy, critical thinking, and vocab.

Thank you in advance and good luck everyone!

To me, the HESI was way easier, especially so on the math section. I got a 93 on TEAS and I posted my HESI scores a few pages back. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I had just finish checking your previous posts in this thread and found it very informative. From what others have already asked you, it pretty much answered the questions that I was going to follow up with. And wow, you are a very intelligent person.

I'd normally end this post by saying good luck but you won't be needing it because of your amazing scores for both tests!

Thanks!
