I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!
Ok, so here are my updated stats after I took the HESI A2 today:
Math - 94%
Reading Comprehension - 96%
Vocabulary and General Knowledge - 90%
Grammar - 96%
Anatomy and Physiology - 96%
Critical Thinking - 900
Learning style: Cognitive/Analytical
Personality style: Creative/Leader
GPA:
Nursing - 3.89
Science- 3.69
I am just hoping these scores are good enough to get me in!
The critical thinking section is kind of strange. Basically, it gives you a patient and a situation and asks you what you should do first or what the most important step is.
Most of the questions you can eliminate 2 answers that don’t make much sense and you are left with 2 answers to pick from. It even says in the beginning of this section that all of the questions are correct, but you have to choose the best answer, which can be annoying.
Anyway, good luck to you all and I hope you all do well!

Wow! Very good job!! May I ask how you studied? I have the study guide and the fundamentals book. I've also heard that the study guide isn't sufficient for the A&P section.
I have to say that the critical thinking section has me worried the most.
Honestly, I don't see why they would even turn you down. Very good GPA & test scores! :)
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it and I hope you are right about them accepting me.
As far as studying, to be honest, I didn't study at all. I just finished A&P II in May which helped me TREMENDOUSLY because all of that was fresh in my head. I had a majority of A&P II questions on the test, so they were more physiology based.
As for the CT section, I had no idea what to expect. I looked online and couldn't find much concrete information about it! I was so nervous when I got to that section, I didn't know how I was going to do. I just took it one question at a time and worked by process of elimination and chose what I thought was the best answer.
My advice is to eliminate what you can and use your best judgement while thinking like a nurse. Think about law and ethics when you answer some of the questions.
That is all I can think of right now. If you guys have anymore questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
