UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

If you think about, either programme take about the same amount of time ~16 month (if you subtract the 6 months of summers [for 2 years] in TWU from 22 months that would equal 16 months). Would you rather go through one semester right after the other (with a little break) or have your full summers?

And how do you feel about doing most of the clinical at the end?

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I have declined my acceptance at UTHSC and I will be sticking to HBU.

My stats:

Overall: 3.79

Pre-nursing: 3.9

Science: 4.0

HESI: 89

Hi I am in your same situation I got in to hbu and Uthsc and keep going back and forth what made you decide on hbu aside from the distance from your house. I am close to the med Ctr and money for tuition is one of the biggest things that worry me. According to hub they are giving me$15000 in scholarships but tuition per yr is like 26000 which is a lot plus I am 30 going on 31 and ut is a faster program. What should I do

Guys any advice I got in to hbu and Uthsc too but I keep going back forth between the schools. I am close to the med Ctr and wanted ut bc you finish faster and I am the oldest of the bunch that so far got accepted. But my financial situation is very critical and hbu is offering a lot in scholarship $ but not sure it's still enough to be able to make it. Ut is much cheaper. But I wonder if they assist in finding scholarships. I don't want to make the wrong decision.

Hey guys, congrats to everyone who got accepted.

I got in as well. Is anybody going to be looking for housing near the campus??

I haven't received anything from UT yet on admission (so I may not get in), but it was only my backup and I've been accepted into TWU Dallas!! :) So if I do get accepted there will be a spot open.

UTHSC is about $17,000 for the entire program. They do have scholarships available, but you have to apply for them and hope you get accepted. HBU sounds like it would be a bit cheaper since you know you'll be getting those scholarships, but the program is longer, so it just depends on what pace you're looking for. Good luck with your decision. They are both excellent schools :)

UTHSC tuition cost (which includes 4 semesters) is $17,370.95 to be exact. Don't quote me on this but I believe if you have your own health care insurance you can deduct $1,698 from that amount. Leaving your tuition cost total at $15,672.95. Might not be much but every single penny counts as you will also have to configure transportation and or parking cost.

In addition to what fefe and sallypink have said, you may have been offered a small scholarship amount for the spring 2014 semester only through your acceptance email.

Yeah I was wondering about it too. They said You have also been chosen to receive a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 for your first semester, Spring 2014! So we will automatically get 1000 ?

Congratulations! Was it in your acceptance email? Do you mind sharing your scores and if you have pending classes?

1000 deducted off your tuition fee in the myUTH portal I think.

I would love summer breaks but at the same time we can graduate earlier with UT!!! It is one of the thing I couldnt decide either!! Do you know anything about the faculty??? Like which school is more helpful, better program, and take better care of students?

Plus can anyone tell me ab pacesetter program plz?
