UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

Hey y'all! I have also been reading this thread ever since it started but just never posted! Congrats to all those who got in during the first wave of acceptances. I bet it's truly exciting and relieving to finally get an answer!

I have already received a Bachelor's degree at UT Austin this past spring, but I still have 4 classes to finish for nursing prereqs, so I'm finishing them up this semester. Do y'all this could hinder me?

Also, I took the HESI in August before I took A&P 2 (which I'm taking this semester). Therefore, Anatomy was my worst section so I only got a 76%. Overall, I made a 89.2% on the HESI. Do y'all know if UT Houston takes into consideration if Anatomy was not finished by the time we took the HESI exam?

3.7 overall and 3.5 science. I hope I get in. I'm getting mixed messages. I hear that some people with my stats get in while others do not. Sooo im very confused!!!!

Salamin, I think they'll consider that you also have a bachelor's degree! I'm also finishing my last three prereqs as well so I'm hoping it won't hinder me.

I heard that UT looks heavily on AP portion which I hope isn't too true. Honestly, if you made a 76 then that means you made 19/25 questions. Which honestly isn't even that bad to me.

It's funny because my HESI was also a 90 overall and 880 CT! But my GPA is a little lower than yours. A lot of people on here have 4.0's which intimidates me, but I know that some do get accepted with lower GPAs.

I took my hesi in June right after I finished A&P 1, I sent the school an email to add to my "application file" telling them I had not taken A&P2 by the time I took the Hesi (I made an 80 on AP portion). Not sure if this helps!

did anyone get in and need/ start looking for housing??

i made a lower grade on hesi and got in

If y'all have received acceptances make sure to request to get into the Facebook group "UTHSC Class of May 2015"!!

i am messaging some people that got accepted into the uthsc to see if you guys have living arrangements because idk where to live.

i made a lower grade on hesi and got in

What do you consider a low grade on the HESI? I Made and 89.6 on mine, with A&P being my lowest score of 80 and I am wondering if that was good enough. My pre req = 3.903 And my Science = 4.0

I'm kinda excited about that! What classes were the most challenging for you?

We'll see how it goes, I personally like the traditional program and find it disappointing they're not offering the choice anymore...

Patho and pharm were challenging but I enjoyed both classes and did well in them. The instructors for these classes are some of my favorites. The classes during second semester weren't too bad but I had it over the summer, so time management was the biggest challenge.

Pedi this semester is probably the hardest in my opinion, it might be my first B in nursing school... bleh.

It depends on your personal strengths, really! Some find the tests with NCLEX style questions to be hardest (care I and II) and others find patho and pharm hardest.

& to those of you still waiting to be accepted, as long as you meet the criteria, don't give up hope! There was someone in my class who was accepted like, the day before classes started. Not everyone who's been accepted will decide to go to UT, or they might have problems getting classes transferred or whatever and not be able to go.
