UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

I've been trying to get someone at the SON Admissions office for two days! So frustrating. I finally got my transcript evaluation and there were a couple of things wrong on it. They show I didn't take Sociology when in fact I did and I made a B! They also chose a class with a lower grade for one of my electives. Why does this happen?!! Don't they know we need as much of an edge as possible?! Sorry, just having to vent lol! This same thing happened to a classmate of mine. I emailed ****** ******** in the hopes of getting through and getting this resolved. I absolutely can not stand all of this waiting!!!!

I just went through the exact same thing with them. My first course eval was missing Chemistry, which I took in Spring 2013. So the guy told me to send over another transcript & it would be corrected. Then I received my final course eval like a week before the deadline and they had correctly added all my summer courses that I completed, but Chem was STILL missing. So I emailed them back and the lady called me and said Chemistry was not listed on any of the 3 transcripts that I had sent them. So then I had to get in touch with someone from HCC to correct it. I ended up having to send 5 emails and make several calls before I could even get anyone to talk to me at HCC. The girl that I finally got in touch with said that this is a common problem with the electronic transcripts and the only solution was to send UTHSC a hard copy. So they sent out the hard copy to UT & I emailed the lady from registrar back to let her know I had figured everything out & asked if it would still be accepted, since by this time it was 1 day past the deadline. She still hasn't emailed me back...

I'm sorry to everyone who is having problems. Unfortunately, the school seems to be a little on the disorganized side. It would be nice if everyone at the school was on the same page because they seem to give out a lot of misinformation. We can only hope that we did everything right during the application process and that they pay close attention to our transcripts and test scores to give everyone a fair shot.

If everyone agrees, I think it is a good idea to compile a post with all of our scores / GPAs so when the decisions are in, we can compare our scores to who made it vs. who didn't. We should also include classes we have left to take, if any. Use the GPA from your transcript eval, if you have one. This should also help us narrow in on what they are looking for, since it seems so random. I'll start with mine and people can just copy it and then add their score so we can keep a running list:

Feel free to add any comments/ideas to this discussion in regards to UTHSC-H SON, nursing school, etc. Last year's forum was more active than this one.

For example, if you want to add in your stats that be great since the application deadline has already passed. This way we can see the "competitiveness" of this Spring 2014 batch.

I hope other people do post their stats so we can try to figure out what this school is actually looking for.

Agreed!! All of us on here seem like we've all shared...I just wonder how many other applicants there were and if their stats were around what ours were../

Maybe the lack of involvement means less applicants? ;) A girl can dream! Lol

I was thinking the same thing, lol
