I'm not sure who you were directing your question to but I can tell you, don't stress over what others have made and didn't get in. I didn't get in for the spring 2014 semester but did for the summer 2014. I have seen people getting accepted with the bare minimum required as well as some with "perfect" everything. I had a 3.2 GPA overall, made an 88 on the HESI with a 940 critical thinking score. I didn't think I had a chance! Don't give up!! If you don't get in the first time, keep applying!!! Good luck!!

Yes. That should be the correct version of the HESI entrance exam. When you take the exam, they list all of the sections and you have to pick the ones that are required for UTHSC. I'm currently a J1 (this is my first semester). I got in on my second try. When I didn't get in the first time, I started searching for other schools because, frankly, I didn't think I would get accepted. With that said, I wish that I had taken all of the sections of the HESI because other schools may require more sections than UTHSC requires. MOST, if not all, schools will not allow you to take just the section that you need to apply. So, if you can, take all of the sections. I have also seen on previous posts that some are wanting to go the Pacesetter route when they get into the program. UTHSC has changed their program to where everyone goes the Pacesetter route. After years of trying it out, they have discovered that grads are more prepared and do better on the NCLEX after going that route. So, now, this is how their BSN program is designed. I have pleasantly discovered that upperclassmen are more than willing to help out us newbies! So, if any of you have any questions, please, don't hesitate to ask! Definitely listen to what the other current students have said about not stressing now! Trust me, you will do PLENTY of stressing once you're in lol! Enjoy this time that you have because, once you're in, you will not have a life...well, you will but you will have a Nursing Student's life! Honestly, even though it is all very stressful, I find it invigorating to know that I am going down the path that I have dreamed about! Good luck to all of you!

Don't give up hope! I had applied to Spring 2014 and was denied. I went ahead a applied to Summer thinking I didn't have a chance but got in. With your stats, I don't see why you won't get in. Chin up!

I GOT IN!!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!! I am overjoyed! I was declined for Spring 2014 and got my application in at the last minute for Summer 2014. I was really afraid I would get passed over again because my GPA is not a 3.5 and above. I was getting rather discouraged and really didn't want to go anywhere else. So, for those of you that are still trying, DON'T GIVE UP!!!

I too am applying to the Summer 2014 semester. I applied for Spring 2014 but was denied. I went to the info session in August and was informed to not apply for financial aid until accepted into the program. I will probably go ahead and submit my FAFSA information since it is the government required application. You could always put your current school down instead of UTHSC. UTHSC can always retrieve the information later even though you didn't put them down as the receiving school. It was very stressful waiting for a decision for the Spring semester. My stats aren't bad but they aren't exactly the best either. I highly suggest NOT trying to figure out their method of selection because you will go crazy trying. As mentioned by someone in a previous post, the people that were expected to get in didn't always get in and ones you least expect to make it, got in! It's crazy! A friend of mine applied at the same time as I did and she got wait listed. Our stats are almost identical. Just to give ya'll an idea...here's my stats: HESI Reading: 96 Grammar: 88 Vocab & Gen Knowledge: 86 English: 90 A&P: 80 Math: 92 Overall: 88 C.T.: 940 I currently have a 3.2 pre-requisite GPA with a 3.0 Science GPA. I am finishing up this semester with Chemistry, HIST 1302 and Stats. I think I'm going to get an A in History and hopefully and A in Chemistry and a B in Stats. I am currently a Registered Radiologic Technologist (AAS) and have been working in this field for 6 years. My friend is currently and LVN. I know of several people that did not get in on their first try so, if you don't make it the first time, keep applying! Also, don't put all your eggs in one basket! Good luck to all of you!

We'll, I received my rejection letter yesterday. I debated on posting this on here but I thought it might give some of you an idea of where they are at. I'm not really surprised. I don't have a 4.0 and I think that's what they were looking for. Just FYI...I have a 3.2 overall GPA, 3.0 science GPA, 88 HESI overall with a 940 critical thinking. Oh and I also made an 80 on the A&P section of the HESI. Good luck to the rest of you still waiting!

You are not going to find anything in the HESI book. The Critical Thinking portion is meant to test your working knowledge of nursing...scenario type questions. Most of them are common sense. An example would be like if you are working in an ER and you have several patients. One patient is complaining of a possible broken arm and another complains of shortness of breath and their arm going numb. How would you treat this situation? Another is like you have to administer a shot of something to a young child, about 5 or 6 years old. How would you approach the child? Of course all of the situations are multiple choice. I didn't prepare for that portion and I made a 940. If you think about the scenario from all aspects - the patient's, parents, doctors, you should do OK. Good luck!

AGREED!!! I just wish they would send out the denials!!! That way I can move on to plan B! This is enough to drive someone to drinkin'! I'm curious if they actually ever change the status from that green little dot that I hate so much to the denial sign of the red circle with a red denial bar.

Well, I guess no one else on this blog has been accepted yet. I haven't seen any activity since Monday. This is really frustrating. I haven't received an email yet and I feel I did fairly well on my HESI. I don't have a 4.0 like many of you on here but my grades aren't terrible either. This waiting is killing me!!! I wish they would send out rejection letters and put an end to my suffering! Oh well, I'm still holding on to a tiny thread of hope that maybe they are still considering me. That is REALLY great news about the transition to the Pacesetter program. I was really hoping I would be one of the "randomly" chosen ones if I ever get in lol!
