UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

well thats good to know… hopefully we all start receiving evals in the mail in a few weeks…

@arobbins - I wouldn't worry about not making it! It's still way too early to tell! The deadline isn't till the 15th and they don't choose people according to when they applied

Hey I have a question for you guys who already received your evals… Next to a few of my grades appears ">R"

Does anyone know what that means? It's next to one of my electives and then two more appear next to courses that weren't part of the prerequisites.

Hmm...I don't have that, but since it is an R, maybe it means "retake" and the greater than symbol could mean that the grade shown is the "greater" grade of the retake??? Just a guess....

That is a good guess! But I haven't retaken any of my courses :/ at first I thought it stood for "renewal" because I did apply for academic renewal for some not so stellar grades from 2005 but the ">R" appears next to two classes that I never had requested a renewal for... Anywho I emailed the school my question so hopefully I get a reply Monday. Thanks anyways :)

I know it won't be a while until sometime in October when we'll be able to see if we accepted, wait listed, or denied.

Do you think they make decisions based on the overall package? Like if your CT score wasn't that great (was slightly above minimum requirement), but your GPA is considered competitive, you will still have a chance? In other words, one area can compensate for another?

Hi everyone,

About HESI, I remembered my exam was...

60 questions, Reading Comprehension (not 50)

60 Vocab (not 50)

60 Grammar (not 50)

30 A&P (not 25)

I am going to retake HESI.

Do I need to finish all the questions?

Is V2 harder than V1?

Thanks for your helping....I am so nervous.....

Boo I guess I'm out. Today I took the HESI, and aced it. However I didn't take the critical thinking portion. I am so irritated.

Hi everyone,

I am also applying to the spring 2014 BSN program.

I also took the HESI today (a little last minute, I know). I received a 98 in Math, 96 in Reading Comp., 96 in Vocabulary, 96 in Grammar, 80 in A&P, and 940 in Critical Thinking. That gives me an overall score of 93.20%. Not too thrilled with my score on the A&P section, but honestly I'm just happy that I passed that portion. I guess we will see if it's enough.....

Regarding the ">R" on the transcript evaluations....could that possibly be transfer classes? I had a lot of them on my evaluation.

Good luck to everyone! Fingers crossed!

Yun-juLai - I took V2 today (I took V1 November of last year, and did great on everything, but I failed the A&P section). I would say V2 was pretty much the same as V1, just a different pool of questions. If you are re-taking the HESI you will need to re-take all sections that are required for UTHSC, not just the sections you want to improve in.

Hi guys! Anyone else excited the deadline is tomorrow? I'm getting so nervous now!!! I just want to get in so badly! I'm going to call the school on Friday to get an official number of applicants for the spring semester! However is anyone else interested in calling up there for the same thing? I just want to make sure they give us a solid number and I'm not just being given a random number :)

Today the 15th as you all may know. Well, since the application deadline was earlier this year than last, will we get to know the decision earlier? Last year the deadline was Sept 1, 2012, and most people from the forum from last year got to know somewhere near Oct 15.

Hopefully it will be sooner! That way if we are waitlisted (I'm thinking of worst case scenarios here) people will have to let the school now if they accept or decline by an earlier date meaning if we are waitlisted we will be called off the list sooner, like November or December instead of January! Just thinking positive here :)
