UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

Thank you so much everyone who have participated in this forum! It has been super helpful:)!!!

I just submitted my application yesterday (8/7-midnight), took my Hesi test the day before (8/5), and finally submitted my transcript the same day I took my Hesi test.

I have some questions...

(A) How long does it take for you to receive a confirmation email (like the one that you can check up your statuses)?

(B) How long does it take UT-H to receive the Hesi scores?

© Should I call Uth to see if they receive my stuff or should I wait a couple days later?

Actually I already got my confirmation email with the username and password. On my to-do list it still says it needs my final transcript and TSI. I already had my transcript send via mail by my school on Monday so it should take a couple of days before UT-H receives it. As far as the Hesi scores, does UT-H receive it right away like the day after you take your Hesi Exam and how long does it usually take for you to get a transcript evaluation? Is that evaluation sent to you via email or regular postage mail?

@flower - I emailed I think someone at the registrar to ask about my HESI a couple days after I took the test because it still was listed under my to-do list and I got an email back saying it was received but would take a few days for the my UTH system to update. Hope that helps!

HOLY COW!! I had quite the stressful situation earlier and I was wondering if this happened to anyone else… So I had my last transcript from HCC sent electronically last monday (29th) and I've noticed it STILL showed up on my to-do list that it needed to be received, so I emailed the registrar to ask about it and see if it had been received or not… I got an email back saying that it was received but shows that I am still enrolled in classes for fall 2013 and until those classes were finished and my transcript with those final grades was received, it was remain on my to-do list! So I kinda freaked out, worried that I wouldn't be considered for admission if my application status was "incomplete"… So I sent an email back and in the mean time I called the registrar to ask, (I hardly ever get a chance to speak to anyone but this time Idid). The woman told me it doesn't affect the application process and then I asked if I would still receive a transcript evaluation in the mail and then the most confusing convo ever happened...

Me: Ok great, so should I still receive a transcript evaluation in the mail?

Woman: No, they have to request your GPA first.

Me: ummm……I'm sorry, I'm confused

Woman: THE SCHOOL has to request your GPA AFTER YOU'VE BEEN ACCEPTED and then you will get your evaluation!!!

me:…ummm…….ok……thanks……bye…...

WHAAAAAT?? lol She didn't seem too happy to explain to me so I took it upon myself to email my inquiries directly to the info email address for the SON. Then, thankfully, this amazing woman who always answers all my neurotic questions got back to me and said what the registrar told me was correct about the to-do list, and the incomplete status would NOT affect being considered for the spring semester and I WOULD still get a transcript evaluation after the deadline had passed.

WHEW! Anyone? lol

I kind of had a similar convo with someone on the phone in the registrars office. I had my application in back in May, but I had yet to receive a transcript eval in mid July. So, I called and I was told that once your HESI scores are in they will be reviewed by the nursing department and if you meet the scores they are looking for, they will request a transcript evaluation from the registrars office which will then be sent to you.

As far as her saying "scores they are looking for", I don't know if that meant if you meet the score minimums of 75, or if she meant scores they are actually looking for, which is likely to be above 75.

I ended up getting an eval about 1 week after I called, but I don't think I got it because I called cause the date on the eval was before the date I called.

Also, it will not affect your application process if it shows incomplete transcripts on myUTH. It's just because you still have pending classes for the fall. I am also in that situation and I was assured that the application process will not be affected by that fact.

Ya, after I got that email putting my worries to rest I felt a huge wave of relief...

LITERALLY this exact thing happened to me yesterday!! I was thinking it would make my application incomplete but two people assured me it wouldn't so. Still stresses me out seeing it on my To-Do list.

Now, I'm getting a little concerned after reading these last couple of posts. I took my HESI June 27th and finished submitting my transcripts the same day. I still have three classes remaining of the pre-requisites. My To Do list is complete on myUTH. I still haven't received a transcript eval and they said in the info session everyone would get one. So does this mean before the application deadline or after the application deadline?

My classmate that did the same exact thing (HESI and transcripts on same day) received an Eval about two weeks ago. On her Electives, the registrars office screwed up and used classes with lower grades. They also put Philosophy (a defined pre-requisite) as one of her electives. She talked to Brandy with the SON and she looked everything up and had it resubmitted. For some reason, the registrars office did the Eval before all of my classmates transcripts were in. At this point, I don't have much faith in the UTHSC registrar office! I guess I will try and email them again. UGH! This is all very frustrating!!

@arobbins - From what I was told by someone at the SON, I will receive my eval AFTER the application deadline. And the reason the transcript was still on my to-do list is because I am already enrolled in fall classes, so they appear on my transcript. when you submitted your transcript were you enrolled in the remainder of your prereqs yet? If not, maybe that is why the item was removed off your to-do list?

I emailed admissions last night and they responded this morning. Here is what they told me:

"We do course evaluations and calculate GPAs after the School of Nursing requests an evaluation to be done." UGH!!!

I think you are right about my To Do list showing complete. When I told them I was enrolled at another school to finish my pre-requisites, she asked, "What school are you currently enrolled in courses?" I don't think I registered for fall until after I submitted my transcripts to UTHSC.

She also told me to contact the School of Nursing to see when they might request my evaluation to be done. So, I guess that's my next step. I'm curious as to what triggers the SON to request an eval to be done.

I just called and spoke to a SON admissions counselor. She said she didn't know why I haven't received an eval letter yet because they received my last transcript the beginning of July and normally once everything is complete a letter is sent out in about two weeks. She also told me if I don't receive one by August 15th, I should receive one after the deadline. After the deadline, they request evals on everyone that has applied.

I hope this is not an indicator that I didn't make it.

Has anyone that still has transcripts listed on their To-Do list (due to still being enrolled in classes) received an eval letter?
