UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

Thanks! That's very reassuring! I sort of wish I didn't know anything about the eval letter lol! That would be one less thing to have to think about.

Agreed!!

ditto! Both are great schools so no complaining for me!

So they send out the first round of letters in Nov?

It's supposed to be October according to the myuhc website. Which would make sense because last years' spring applicants started getting letters at the end of Oct/beginning of Nov & our due date is 15 days sooner than theirs was. The sooner the better! Lol

true! How long does it take to receive this course eval I keep hearing about?

So I'm confused. There's a deadline for the accelerated and pacesetter programs, so which one is considered the traditional BSN program? And does anyone know if they will accept the HESI scores after the application deadline? I know that we are supposed to put in those scores in the application, but some posts said they sent in the application without the scores. Thanks.

From my understanding, the Accelerated program IS the traditional program. The pacesetter program is also part of the traditional program. The pacesetter program is for students that have started in the fall and they are selected to take part in this program. Those that are chosen for this program lives the "life" of a nurse in the last part of the program. This is what it says on the UTHSC website:

"Some fall applicants will be assigned to the “Pacesetter” version of the BSN program, in which students use their final 16 weeks doing full-time clinical rotations in the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System or another partnering hospital. Pacesetters “live the life of a nurse” while still completing their degrees, making them more job ready upon graduation."

I know this is confusing lol! I had to read it a couple of times to make sure I understood it correctly.

Last year at the info session that I went to, they said that they would accept HESI scores after the deadline ONLY if it was taken soon before the deadline. It takes a couple of days for the scores to upload to their system from Prometric/Elselvier. You can start your application before you take the HESI. Once you take the HESI, the scores will be loaded for you.

I highly recommend going to an info session. It really is helpful. They have an answer and question session once they go over their presentation.

No I have not. I actually just sent in my transcript and will take my HESI the first week of August. I know I'm a little late with everything but I've been studying for my TEAS exam as well.. I have all my science prerequisites done and have like a 3.5. My non science gpa is not that good. I only have a 2.8 but I'm hoping that my hesi exam goes well and they see that as well as my science gpa.

I will keep you guys updated :D

I also will be graduating this Decenber 2013. I'm sure that doesn't matter but just wanted to mention it
