UTHSC Traditional BSN Fall 2016 Applicants

Published

Hello everyone:D

I have seen various threads for previous applicants that applied to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I was not able to find a thread for UTHSC Fall 2016 applicants so I decided to start one. If a thread already exists, I am sorry. I will also be applying to TWU-Houston and UTMB. I know the process is stressful, so I will try to make it easier. I will be attending the May 22 info session at UT and the May 28 one at TWU. I will be sure to update any information discussed in the sessions for those who are not able to attend. If there are any previous applicants, or current and previous students, I would appreciate if you could join and share your experience in the school as well as your application process.

I look forward to talking to everyone who is going through this nursing journey.:)

So as of yesterday, my To Do list still was missing my HESI results. I called and they informed me they are still downloading them, but if I took them before the deadline then I was fine? I took it once on 12/29 then again on 1/11. I'm confused did I miss the 1/15/2016 deadline or are they still processing application materials that they received before the deadline?

I took the test 1/14, from my understanding as long as you took it before 1/15 your scores are in. The scores usually get collected at the end of the month, however due to the mid-month deadline they collected the scores on 1/15. The woman I talked to said they have to wait till everyone on 1/15 takes their test and then they collect all scores from January. I think it's just taking them awhile to update, I called last week about my transcript, she could see that it was in the system on her side, but but on mine it's still incomplete.

Thank you, That calms my nerves a bit. I was thinking that I missed the deadline and put my plans a semester behind due to my procrastinating the HESI.

I'm so scared lol, every thread has people with perfect stats and I'm like:bag:

And my second choice is PV nursing school, I'm transferring from Texas Tech so I'm hoping Houston treats me well *fingers crossed* lol

Xipp, if you remember your stats do you mind sharing with us?

Oh goodness, I'm not sure if I remember correctly and don't laugh lol.

Overall GPA was like a 3.2

Science 3.6

HESI I got over a 90 on every subject with a 950 in critical thinking!

Not great..you wouldn't think I'd be kicking nursing school's butt with those stats! I know I didn't! I thought I was going to flunk out and be dumber than everyone, but nope! You guys can do it! It is all how you apply yourself! :)

As long as your actual application is in before 1/15, you are fine. They will accept transcripts and hesi scores after the deadline up until they start making fall decisions.

Does anyone know if they usually wait until exactly April 15th to announce or is it sometimes before. I thought I could handle this waiting game, but I was wrong. :dead:

I have read other threads and it seems they start mid to late March through April 15th.

Hey. This is the first time I have ever joined a thread. I don't even do Facebook because I am a very private person. I'm excited to join this discussion however. We all share the same passion and I too have applied to UTHSCH for the fall.

Hello everyone! I have also applied for both Summer 2016 and Fall 2016. I never received a transcript evaluation and have been finishing up the last 5 pre-reqs this past fall semester and now this semester. It has been quite nerve-wracking with the To-Do list showing my current school's transcripts still needed. However, I *finally* got a call from one of the registrar's office admissions specialists and she confirmed that they have received all of my documentation for both applications by their respective due dates and that I'm now just playing the waiting game. What a relief just to know that they have everything! I wish everyone the best of luck and hope to see ya'll either in the summer or fall!

So, I read last years thread the other night..:they found out April 7th! I'm so anxious to know!

UTHSCSA Alumni 2006 here!!

I entered nursing school when the HESI was just being tested, but was not part of our admission. Lucky for me because I doubt even after being a nurse for 10 years I could even pass it!

I had an overall 3.98 GPA with a 3.7 Science when I entered in 2003...and I was waitlisted before I was accepted.

Over half the class was unsuccessful, but not because they were dumb, they were a bunch of perfectionists that could not handle a grade less than an A. A lot of people dropped because they couldn't handle the GPA hit. The greatest lesson learned in nursing school was C means Continue...as in you go on to the next class... I entered nursing school with a GPA of 3.98, and left with a GPA of 2.6....and you know what? I still passed the NCLEX, and am successful in my career....currently holding a national certification in my field and in the process of completing a masters program.

You don't have to be the top of the pile to be successful...don't be discouraged if you think your scores are not up to par...success is always within your reach!

@rnnluvnit2006 Thank you for your encouraging words!
