UTHSC Traditional BSN Fall 2016 Applicants

Published

Hello everyone:D

I have seen various threads for previous applicants that applied to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I was not able to find a thread for UTHSC Fall 2016 applicants so I decided to start one. If a thread already exists, I am sorry. I will also be applying to TWU-Houston and UTMB. I know the process is stressful, so I will try to make it easier. I will be attending the May 22 info session at UT and the May 28 one at TWU. I will be sure to update any information discussed in the sessions for those who are not able to attend. If there are any previous applicants, or current and previous students, I would appreciate if you could join and share your experience in the school as well as your application process.

I look forward to talking to everyone who is going through this nursing journey.:)

Hello everyone, I have also applied to UTHSC fall 2016. I am done with all my prerequisites, and my overall GPA is 3.8 and I made a 90 overall score on the HESI, and 880 on the CT section. I took the HESI on December 31st, and it still shows up on my to do list. I call everyday to check if they have received them, and all that can tell me is that they're still uploading results. I just want to make sure they have everything before the deadline. Good luck everyone. I hope I get to meet you all in the fall :)

Hi Sheyhanis,

I took my HESI on 12/21 and it didn't come off my to do list until January 5th. I wouldn't worry yet. Good luck!

Thank you sakiandscout! you have brought my stress level down a notch!

Hey y'all,

I am about to start my 3rd semester (S1) at UTHealth! Do not worry about GPAs and scores! I was wait listed and admitted at the last minute! My GPA was not all that great but my HESI score was pretty good! I am doing very well and I know some with perfect 4.0 GPAs and scores that dropped out or failed and are held back a semester! Only you will determine what happens and the end result! I am now doing an externship at a top hospital in the med center!

You don't have class everyday and you will have some labs everyday and some a few times a month. It is definitely fast paced but doable if you put work into it! We laugh, we cry, we go insane at times, but at the end of the day we pull through to the next semester! You can do this! Remember if you do not get in the first time try again! I know so many who did not get in the first time and are doing amazing now! Let me know if you have any questions, don't worry about the holds too much. The office does a pretty good job at getting it done before the deadline! I hope I can help ease some of the stress a bit! :)

Good Morning Xipp,

It's funny that you commented when you did as I had just gotten through the 2014 thread and read some of your posts. What time is your earliest class and do you commute or do you live close?

Hello! I'm apply for fall 2016 as well ! My stats are pretty mediocre compared to other threads I've seen so far my gpa (overall 3.4) science 3.2 and my HESI was 88% with 800 on critical thinking. I don't think I'm really competitive considering I got a 76 on the anatomy part

Don't give up hope, and I wouldn't compare because numbers seem to be everywhere!

Finally someone who has somewhat similar grades to mines...lol I am so scared it's a shame. My overall gpa is 3.3 and my science gpa is 3.5

anyone myuth portal pacesetter application "incomplete" and to do list is cleared?

How are we all going to get through the next 2 to 2 1/2 months without going crazy while we wait? I have emailed the registrar about transcript evaluations and if I was going to receive one, but no word yet. Has anyone thought about Houston Baptist University? I applied on Monday just to see if I could get in. They only admit 50 people to their BSN program, but their pass rate for the NCLEX is only in the 80-85% range. Not that great compared to UT Houston, which is about 96%. Oh well, let the wait begin!

Hi there,

LOL, i do not want to see those threads. Such a stressful time! I applied for fall 14 and didn't get in. Reapplied for spring and got waitlisted and admitted for the summer! Let me tell you I am doing great here. So do not feel bad. It doesn't mean if you will succeed or not. Sometimes I still feel dumb at times but this is a learning process!

First class begins at 8am I think and some exams will start an hour earlier at 7am. I used to live far from the school and I would take the park and ride to school. I have recently moved closer to school, about 10 minutes away, and I still take the metro bus, but it is awesome being so much closer and avoiding all the traffic!

I'm so scared lol, every thread has people with perfect stats and I'm like:bag:

And my second choice is PV nursing school, I'm transferring from Texas Tech so I'm hoping Houston treats me well *fingers crossed* lol

Xipp, if you remember your stats do you mind sharing with us?
