Hello everyone:D
I have seen various threads for previous applicants that applied to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I was not able to find a thread for UTHSC Fall 2016 applicants so I decided to start one. If a thread already exists, I am sorry. I will also be applying to TWU-Houston and UTMB. I know the process is stressful, so I will try to make it easier. I will be attending the May 22 info session at UT and the May 28 one at TWU. I will be sure to update any information discussed in the sessions for those who are not able to attend. If there are any previous applicants, or current and previous students, I would appreciate if you could join and share your experience in the school as well as your application process.
I look forward to talking to everyone who is going through this nursing journey.:)

Hey there!
I started a thread a few months back, but only one other person has replied back and it hasn't gotten many hits yet. I'll also be attending the info session in May! I still need to finish classes and take the HESI, but we have a long wait ahead of us anyways so I'm not too worried...yet.

Hi guys! I recently got accepted for the Fall 2015 class. Let me know if you guys have any questions about the application process, scores, etc!
Hey! Congrats to you! I just sent in my application and paid so my journey has just started. Just out of curiosity, how were your scores?
My scores were average. My overall was a 3.6 and science GPA was a 4.0. My HESI score was 85% overall w/ an 850 on the critical thinking portion which was not that great at all. I think what really helped me was the fact that I got a Bachelor's degree within three years of graduating high school. Don't ever be discouraged! I truly didn't think I have a chance but if this is what you want, I believe you can do it!!! :)
Thanks! That's all really helpful. I'm kind of worried about the HESI though...how long did it take you to study for it??
I studied for less than a week which was a poor choice on my part! I wish I could have studied more but I had a lot going on. I would highly recommend getting the HESI admission assessment study guide. I believe it's purple and white. If I can find the link, I'll post it here.
I literally swear by that book. It helped me out so much and a good majority of the things I studied in that book were on the exam. The math was super easy. The only part that got me was the grammar and reading. I thought these would be the easiest sections but unfortunately not!

Congratulations on your acceptance! I was reading the Fall 2015 thread and saw that you were wait-listed. I can not imagine how it must have felt, but what matters is that you got in:up: Do you know what kind of information will be given to us in the information session?
@veganbunny
Thank you for replying. I found your thread but saw few replies, hopefully this thread will get going even though there is a long wait to go. I will be going with some classmates who are applying for Spring 2016, maybe I will see you there.

Yes, it was nerve wracking! But thankfully I wasn't wait listed for long at all! I would highly suggest going to the information session if you can. They give so much more detail than what is found online such as competitive GPA's versus just the minimum GPA requirements, what to expect, what our days would be like, etc.
It definitely made me realize I made the right choice! You have time at the end to familiarize yourself with a couple staff members and ask any questions that you may have.
Yes there is an information session tomorrow, hopefully it is like you say it is. I hope that we get a tour of the place but I have seen on other threads that they do not give tours.
I'm sure it will be. I had mine two months ago.
We didn't get a tour though. They said you have to schedule campus tours separately.
