I have seen various threads for previous applicants that applied to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I was not able to find a thread for UTHSC Fall 2016 applicants so I decided to start one. If a thread already exists, I am sorry. I will also be applying to TWU-Houston and UTMB. I know the process is stressful, so I will try to make it easier. I will be attending the May 22 info session at UT and the May 28 one at TWU. I will be sure to update any information discussed in the sessions for those who are not able to attend. If there are any previous applicants, or current and previous students, I would appreciate if you could join and share your experience in the school as well as your application process.

I've been on pins and needles since February 4th. I applied for both summer and fall terms of this year and I have yet to get anything in my email inbox. The whole staying positive thing is getting to be quite hard right now, but I gotta do my best since it's still somewhat "early in the game" to be giving up all hope. It just sucks playing the waiting game lol.
I think A LOT of people apply for both summer and fall and it seems like they review for both semesters and try to place students accordingly. I think that is why you see some fall acceptances while they are still going summer.
So I just spoke with admissions because I had a question regarding my transcript evaluation. I decided to also ask if they look at the overall gpa when checking applications and she said that they now started doing that. They do look at your overall gpa and that is why the applicant needs to send in all of the courses. I don't know about y'all but I'm not feeling too happy about this. My pre-reqs and science gpa is good but I have a bachelors and my undergrad gpa is super low. I'm actually feeling scared and anxious.
Wow! Can't believe they have started Fall already. I haven't applied for any other semesters yet. If I don't get in for Fall, I will apply for both next Spring & Summer. Really hoping for good news this cycle though!
Honestly, I don't remember exactly but it's in the low 3's. My transcript has almost 200 units from about 14 years of coursework, so it's all over the place. I did speak to admissions though, and they said they "rarely" look at overall GPA. I'm hoping it won't affect me too much since my last 30-40 units are a 4.0. I've also seen on past threads that a lot of people who get denied eventually get accepted so I'm hoping for the best!
That's so confusing. Some say they do consider overall GPA, some say they do. With your number you would assume you would get in no problem, however best of luck to you. Hopefully this go-round is a winner!
I hope so! Actually a different person from admissions a few months ago also told me that they see the overall GPA but really focus on the other 3 factors. I'm really hoping this is the case since I've been told this by a couple different people now.
I've gotten mixed info too. I called admissions last week because I too, had a question about my transcript and transcript evals, and the lady told me they don't send out transcript evals to anyone unless they've been already admitted........... Uhm, what? I've seen so many people get them during the app process and not everyone who gets them gets in! And vice versa! So confusing.
If you got one for spring and didn't get in that tells you right there that they gave me incorrect info [emoji53] cause they told me they were only for people who got admitted ... So don't worry! I haven't received a transcript eval either, anyone else?
