UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016

Hey guys, just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON hopefuls who are applying for Spring 2016. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin to play what seems to be the longest waiting game ever! I am more than confident that each and every one of us will be receiving our acceptance letters around this same time next year:) Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!

Hi everyone! I just had the sense to look for a Spring 16 UTHSC thread and here you all are! I've read through all the posts and the info has been super helpful. Just to get acquainted, here are my stats:

BA in Liberal Studies from UH, Final GPA 3.345

Cumulative GPA: 3.509

Science Prereqs: 4.0

HESI: English 96%, A+P 84%, Math 96%, Critical Thinking 830, Overall 93%

I haven't taken A&P II yet, do you guys think they take that into account at all when looking at HESI?

UTH is the only school I'm applying to, so hopefully it will work out! My application is complete, so there's nothing left to do on my end but take a tour of the school and then wait.

Hey madxbutxmagic, thanks for joining us! Your stats look really good, I'm sure they take everything into account when looking at our application but your science score is still very good so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Also you have a previous degree so I'm sure that plays a big role also. Best of luck to you!

Hey guys, sorry I've been so busy with summer classes but I finally got around to taking my HESI so I figured I'd post my stats:

Math - 90

Vocab. - 96

Reading - 90

Grammar - 90

A & P - 92

CT - 940

Hoping this is enough. Just a little over a month left guys!!

Decided to retake the HESI on July 24th. I know I'm rolling the dice since I didn't do to bad the first time but I just can't help myself. I am applying at 2 other places but have my heart set on UTHSC and I need a higher score for them to even look at my application. I plan on studying, really studying, a week before hand this time. I studied a few hours a week about a month before my last attempt and scheduled myself off work 3 days before to really get into it. I am so glad that I won't have to work while in nursing school. I don't see how those girls do it.

Finishing up summer I classes and sending over my transcripts. Only Micro and American Government to go. Scared but looking forward to micro. Any suggestions/tips?

Hi all, new here. Should we be receiving a transcript evaluation even if we have not completed all of the pre-requisites? I have submitted all of my transcripts, but will have to send an updated transcript once I finish my microbiology course this summer. All parts of my application were submitted months ago and when I called they told me not to expect a response until November for the January start. Thank you for any advice.

@jketron05, good luck! I'm sure you will do awesome. You did well the first time so I'm sure this time will be no different. I am finishing micro now (5 week course) I actually found it really interesting. I have a great professor thank goodness who is very good at explaining harder concepts. Lots of bacteria and culturing for sure but overall not too bad if you stay on top of everything.

@meptune, I personally haven't recieved a transcript eval. Because I am waiting to complete my summer classes in a week or so before I send all of them in. I know several people have already recieved them. Based on previous threads, you may or may not recieve one before finding out an admissions decision but you should still be able to recieve one even if your pre-reqs are not complete. Like @winemo said, it may be really helpful to email and ask for one if you have not recieved one yet. I may be mistaken but I hope this helps. Best of luck!

Thank you! I have sent the registrar an email so we'll see what they say. Talking with another student that was accepted for the fall, I believe she said that not everyone she knew received one, although they do send another one with your acceptance. So I am thinking it is not necessary to receive one, but I have inquired anyway. Thank you again.

I went to order my transcript tonight and it asks for a recipient email. Did anyone else have this? I've looked over the website and can't find it anywhere.

Yes, I have seen this too. But when I spoke to a person at UTH registrar I was told there is no email option for them and that all transcripts should either be sent in either electronically or a mailed version. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, just a quick question. I too am sending in my transcripts today, I know that it will probably take a couple of business days to update in the system that they are received. Also, I know they get HESI scores sent in at the end of each month.. I took mine last month so they should have received it by now if I am not mistaken. When I log on myUTH it says HESI and official transcripts initiated which I think is by default. How will I know when they receive my HESI score/transcripts? Will initiated change to complete or something? Just want to make sure I am in the clear before the deadline rolls around. Thanks!

I spoke with someone at their office yesterday and they said the person responsible for downloading the HESI scores from last month has been out and hasn't had a chance to do so yet. They told me to call back today and ask for either Brandy & or Joanne to request for it to be done. So far I haven't been able to reach either. Ugh. Hopefully you will have better luck reaching out to them for your score to be downloaded.

Just got a hold of someone at their office and all she said was that it will soon be downloaded. She mentioned that there 500 scores to download so it will take some time. Ugh.
