UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Hey guys, just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON hopefuls who are applying for Spring 2016. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin to play what seems to be the longest waiting game ever! I am more than confident that each and every one of us will be receiving our acceptance letters around this same time next year:) Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!

I wonder if not many people have been able to find this thread because it's under pre-nursing. Is there a way we could add it to the "Texas" forum as well?

@jektron05, I agree with winemo, I personally think your cumulative score is great and I definitely see where you would be worried about the A&P section.. I actually happen to be in a similar situation for one of my subsections on the TEAS. You definitely have to weigh the pro's and con's with retaking it. I do remember seeing people in previous threads get accepted with the same A&P score because they had a high average overall like you do. But I would certainly be in the same position you are in now. It's a hard decision but maybe sleep on it for a couple of days? It sucks that they take the second score regardless, but based on your scores I don't think you'd have any problem bettering your scores.

@winemo, I did not stay after but I wish I did. I also have 2 W's on my transcript however they don't count because they were done in high school through my dual credit program. I really hope they realize that and don't factor them in.. But it is good to know that we are in the clear since we don't have many.

@winemo, I will try to add it to "Texasl instead of "Pre-nursing" do you happen to know how I could do that? I will play around with the website to see if I can find it.

Thanks so much for posting about the information session! That was so helpful!

I have a question about W's... I'm from MD, so I'm not used to how TX handles those. I have a full semester that I had to withdraw from, as well as a class from an additional semester. Do you guys know if those "count," since they're out of state?

Also, at the info session, did you get a phone number to call about questions? I've got some questions about my transfer classes, but I can't find a phone number online.

jketron05 - jmarg5 is right about the 2nd try on the hesi being the one that counts! My apologies, I must have gotten confused with another school.

@jmarg5 - I don't know how to do it either :sorry: I seen others suggest to an OP on adding a thread to another section but I don't know how they do it. Don't worry about it though! :)

@kaschu66 - I don't know how they go about counting the W's either :sorry: Your best bet is to contact the registrar's office BUT I don't see their number anywhere in the info packet they gave us. There is however, a number for student affairs: 713.500.2025 and/or 713.500.2100. They should be able to transfer your call hopefully. Let us know if you were able to reach somebody!

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!

Hi All.

Just wanted to ask if anyone applying for spring 2016 has yet to receive a transcript evaluation? I just received mine today and can't help but get excited.

I haven't recieved one because I just took my HESI today, I plan on sending my application in as soon as I put in my scores. Congrats on your eval. I know you are excited!

Where can I find an evaluation?

Thanks jmarg4. Hope you did really well on your HESI today. Also, just so you know I got my evaluation exactly a week after I took my HESI. Don't know if it was a coincidence, or if they do transcript eval right after receiving our HESI scores.

Hi 147nataly.

I think once they receive your HESI score they will automatically send out a transcript evaluation. That's how it happened for me.

Hi guys! I highly suggest that you if you haven't received an evaluation, call/email to check on it. I emailed them this morning in regards to a class I took (not sure if it would be counted as credit or not) and they pretty much sent me an evaluation by email and also said they would mail one out. Because of this I was able to realize that one of the classes I took this spring semester wasn't being credited! They noted that it wasn't showing on the electronic transcript they received. I don't know how electronic transcripts work, but now I have to contact HCC to see what went wrong! I know there were a few students in previous semesters that were also having problems with classes missing and what not.

Wow, thanks for sharing the info Winemo. I wasn't aware we could just email them to get a transcript evaluation. Again, thanks for the info.
