UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016

Published

Hey guys, just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON hopefuls who are applying for Spring 2016. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin to play what seems to be the longest waiting game ever! I am more than confident that each and every one of us will be receiving our acceptance letters around this same time next year:) Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!

Hey everyone,

I'm applying for spring 2016 also. I sent in everything and still waiting for a transcript evaluation. Those of you who already received theirs, was it by email or mail?

I have a cumulative 3.93 GPA with 4.0 GPA in science.

HESI:

Reading comp: 92

Grammar: 96

Vocab: 96

A&P: 92

Math: 94

Cumulative Score: 94

Critical thinking: 870

I'm wondering if my CT score is good enough since 900 is recommended for UTHSC, but fingers crossed. I also took it without having A&P II (taking it next semester). Hopefully if I have to take it again and reapply next semester, ill be able to bring those up.

Is it driving anyone else crazy that we have to wait until November or is it just me? Haha

wow awesome stats guys!

is UT-HSC yall's first choice? It is mine, and right now I am torn in whether I should just try to get in where I can and go there, or keep reapplying to UT and retake classes if I have to. :/

Is anyone applying anywhere else?

How many students do they take per term?

Hi 147nataly.

The school takes 120 students per a term.

And as for the average amount of applicants per a term, it is between 850-900.

Good luck to us all, right.

I am having trouble finding what electives they accept? Can someone point me in the right direction? All I am needing at this point is History 1302 and the electives to complete all of my hours.

Thanks!

UT is my first choice, but I am also applying to TWU and PVAMU.

@valxoxo7, I don't think they are too strict on what pre-reqs you take as long as they aren't remedial courses or nursing courses. Also they don't accept workforce training courses like EMT courses. Other than that I think its pretty much up to you. I read somewhere that medical terminology would not count? I would double check though as I could be wrong. Classes like a foreign language, college algebra, an additional biology, etc. will count. You can always email the registrars office with the course name and number and they will be able to confirm your courses before you enroll to be on the safe side. Hope this helps!

Sorry forgot to add that it cannot be a physical education course either.

@jmarg4- yes, that was a great help! Thank you!

another question, once they receive your transcripts and HESI scores do they notify you? (sorry soooo many questions!):wacky:

Hi guys, I have question regarding to Hesi. Do you know if 2 attempts of testing Hesi is per application peroid or for time life? I failed the 1st attempt for Fall 2015 and the failed the vocabulary section for Spring 2016. I don't know if I can have chance to take another try for Spring 2016?

@valxoxo7, I am not 100% sure on that one sorry, I actually had the same question. I would just keep an eye on your uth account and see if anything changes maybe?

@tyty_aty, I believe it is 2 times total based on what one of the ladies said at the information session. Don't give up! The 75% is only "recommended" for admission. I would still apply anyway with what scores you have.

Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools and Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.

@jmarg4, i just checked my MyUTH under my To Do list, and now the only thing thats there is HESI (which I am taking Monday!). Yesterday, they had transcripts and TSI on there as well, I guess this means they received my stuff??
