UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016

Published

Hey guys, just wanted to begin a thread for all UT Health SON hopefuls who are applying for Spring 2016. I look forward to getting to know all of you as we begin to play what seems to be the longest waiting game ever! I am more than confident that each and every one of us will be receiving our acceptance letters around this same time next year:) Feel free to share anything regarding the application process and/or ask any questions that you may have!

Thank you, hoping for the best at this moment (:

Retook the Hesi today. I was able to really bring up my scores from the 88 I had before. 94 overall. Brought my anatomy up from 76 to 88 with a repeat 900 on CT. I'm pleased with my score and just hoping it's good enough.

Does anyone know about taking it again for another school ie. PV? I'm a little confused on the two attempt thing. If you take it once with UT and once for PV (as a version 2) since PV doesn't offer vocab can you take it again under ut where all sections required are completed?

I hope this makes sense :)

@jketron congrats on your new score! you really brought it up, way to go! I'm not sure about your question, I just took it under UT at one of the Prometrix testing centers, and the girl there suggested I take all sections, that way I can send my scores to any school I need, so that is what I'm doing with PV... I'll be sending them my scores Monday, the only thing is that the process to get them sent to other schools is a little confusing

I just applied to uthsc spring 2016 program. The app didn't ask for my volunteer experience or medical work related experience. Did I miss it in the app? Does anyone know if there is a supplemental app?

They do not ask for any medical experience or volunteer work. To my knowledge they do not take into account anything but transcripts and HESI.

Wow! Ok thank you for the information. I applied and paid fee but not able to get back in to see my application status. I guess I will get access again once they review the application, transcripts and hesi scores?

@jketron05 - Congrats on your new scores!!! They're looking really good! Quick question: how was the HESI the 2nd time around? I'm not too sure about my first score. Feeling "in-between" about it. I feel like I really bombed the grammar and reading comprehension part with an 82 (and I thought I would probably do best in those). Did you find that it has more difficult the second time around? Any input would be immensely appreciated!

I don't know if it was just that I wasn't as stressed but it did seem just a little easier. You probably want a different answer. ....but....grammer and vocab were very similar. All other sections were a little different. When you look at your breakdown take a look at some of the books it has listed. I was really on the fence about retaking it but decided that I couldn't not try to do a little better. Trust me, it wasn't an easy choice to make. My A&P score was a 76 or 78. Even with a 3.9/4.0 I knew the A&P was no where near competitive. Good luck to you!

Guys I feel so accomplished. I have finally turn in everything. I can finally breathe :)

Yay! @147nataly ☺️ now the waiting game 😨

Does anyone still have the HESI score still on their to do list? I took the HESI in June and it is still on my to do list. Ugh.
