UTHSC Houston - Summer 2016 Applicants

Hey everyone!

I couldn't find a thread for Summer 2016 that was active so I'm starting one here! I am also an applicant for Fall 2016 but I'm applying for both because the deadlines are close and I really want to go here!! :laugh:

So far I'm taking courses over the summer right now and going to finish my prerequisites this fall. I JUST finished the HESI exam today!!! Hope to hear from all of you soon :up:

Hi guys! I also got an acceptance email yesterday. However, I applied for the Spring and got accepted but had to decline because I dropped a class, which I am now taking this semester on it's own. My gpa is 3.89 pre-nursing, 4.0 sciences. I don't remember the breakdown of my HESI but it was an 87 overall, and 930 CT. I'm super happy I got accepted. I was worried that having to decline (even thought I emailed them explaining why) would affect my chances of being reconsidered.

I didn't apply for the Spring, only Summer, and Fall as a back up.

Hey everyone, I've been following this thread for sometime and saw that people received acceptance emails already, so I checked my account and I was accepted as well! I paid the $200, and see there's an immunization hold, but that's all so far. I live kind of far (The Woodlands) so curious if anyone else lives around here as well. Congrats and Good Luck to everyone!!

Yay!! Congrats on your acceptance! I paid the deposit today as well :) I was wondering about the immunizations too. I posted a question about it in the spring 2016 thread but no response just yet. I'm wondering if we should start to gather that information right away or if we wait until New Student orientation day...

When is new student orientation? I wrote down all the stuff I need to do at my family doc, just waiting for my new insurance card to come in the mail so I can get all of that completed. I also just got a part time job as a lifeguard at the YMCA, so I'll be getting my CPR certification completed soon! I'm excited to meet everyone as well! :laugh:

Y'all ' s best bet is to create a Facebook group and trust me, if you build it they will come. There will be plenty of advice offered to you about stuff to do before classes start and to answer your questions. Please be patient though, as the semester is still very early and you have quite a bit of time before you start. Things are in the hectic phase but I am sure you will still get plenty of answers. Make a group called UTHSC or UTHEALTH SON Class of August??? 2017 or something to that effect. Post the name and link on here and the spring page. Or invite any upperclassmen to join.

They will send out an email letting us know when it is. I don't know how everything goes for summer applications, heck I was surprised they started sending out acceptances this early in Feb. Last summers thread started getting them late Feb. Anyway, student orientation for spring was scheduled for Nov 15th, so I'll make a wild guess and say ours will be around March?

Yes!! Is someone willing/free to start a FB group?? I'm in my car right now (husband driving) but fb access through my phone is tricky. I think at least 2 people's info is needed to start it! I can give mine :)

Hi bryanv! I recognize your username, Spring '16 right? I do have a few questions! (1) Immunizations: we should start to gather all that info asap, right? No need to wait until after admitted student orientation? (2) Financial aid: do you know if we should start applying for fafsa like -now- or also wait? (3) I know there's something about a background check, but I think I read/heard somewhere that we do it through a business of their choice? I guess all my questions are probably things they will go over orientation, but I want to knock out whatever I can...the sooner the better.

Lastly, HOW IS EVERYTHING GOING now that you're in!!!!?? Was it what you expected? better, worse? the teachers? the material? :D Sorry if it's too much lol. I'm still super excited. It still hits me every hour or so!
