This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Good luck to everyone!!
Hello there everyone! I'm a hopeful and am applying to UTH and TWU.
Okay, so, I take my HESI on Monday, and I hope I didn't wait too late to take it. A few here seem to be taking it late, too. I haven't even taken my TEAS V yet for TWU and their site is screwy and won't let me schedule it even though I paid for it. I really hope I can get my scores in before applications are due... :/ I would've registered way sooner, but my family just hasn't had the money.
I'm pretty darn nervous about it, to be honest.
I am attending the information session on August 10th so I suppose I will see some of you there! :)
My current stats are:
Science GPA: 4.0
Overall: 3.88
I keep hearing from people that they're good, so it's up to the HESI now to make or break me. My fiance is in nursing school currently and is already preparing for his exit level HESI, so he has been telling me all kinds of stuff to prepare me for the critical thinking section, so that is helpful. I've been brushing up on my A&P (Took 1 and 2 honors and made A's, but it was a couple of semesters ago so it is fading). I had a friend who took A&P 1 and made an A, didn't take 2 yet, didn't study, and made a 96% on the A&P section! I'm hoping it is that easy for all of us still waiting to take the test! lol 2 people said they both had a question about knowing where the calcaneus is on there. Heel! An answer choice is foot so don't let that fool you if you get that one. Also, they both had the pulse behind the knee on a question (popliteal).
Anyways, how do I know what sections of the HESI I am registered for? I can't find it anywhere on my Evolve profile or in my confirmation emails, and I want to make sure I am registered for the right section.
Thanks for your help and good luck!

I will be there August 10th. For me all of the sections showed up during the test but since UT does not require Bio or Chem, I did not even touch them. UTHSC requires vocab, grammar, A&P, math, reading, and critical thinking so just do those and leave bio and chem blank.
@taylorxteddy, I'm not taking my Hesi until the 24th, so don't feel bad!! Can you give me some kind of idea what you are studying for the Critical Thinking portion of the test? I have no idea what to expect and I'm kind of freaking out about that part!
I studied this book which I found online and can send it to your if you want. I didn't do too good on that section but I think if you practice a lot with this book and see the rationale to the answers, it really helps.
Fundamentals Success A Course Review Applying Critical Thinking to Test Taking
BTW, UTHSC is asking for a minimum score of 750 on the critical thinking section but I only got 730. But I see that a lot of schools don't even ask for this section and that some do not care how you do on this section but only want to see how you do on it. Does anybody know if UTHSC might reject me if I scored below what they want?
GPA 4.0
HESI overall 93%
And I even go a letter of recommendation.

Sorry to say this, but yes, you have to take the test again. I took it and I got 74 on the vocabulary section... so I think next time I will do better.

Yea, I'd love to know what a typical week is like. How many days a week in class and how many days a week in clinicals? Are the clinicals spent predominately in the MedCtr area?
