This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Good luck to everyone!!
Hi Everyone,
I called the SON today to make sure all of my paperwork was indeed turned in and that my application was complete. I guess I must have picked the right number to push because I got to talk to an actual person :) The very nice lady told me that everyone's Hesi scores are IN the system, but not everyone's score has been entered into UTLink because the registrar's office does that and they are swamped right now with everyone sending in transcripts.
She said, not to worry and that after the deadline was over they would get caught up on the paperwork. She pulled my file right up and told me every detail I wanted to know even though I couldn't see any of it in UTLink.
Then she said the nicest thing to me......"your scores are very competitive". It was music to my ears. I probably didn't hear a word she said after that, lol.
Now we all need to take a deep breath, say a little prayer that we all get accepted and try not to go insane over the next 2 1/2 months while we wait!
Hey everyone! I got an email from them today saying they have all my stuff and would be sending me a transcript eval in the mail soon. I am also still waiting on my UT Link PIN mail. I am so excited that this is all over with for us and we can just sit back and relax.
Question for everyone: I read on Google that Hep B vaccination does not expire. I got mine back in 2000. Does the SON require you to retake it? I assumed not, but now I'm kind of worried. D:
@katybusymom That is so sweet of that lady! How reassuring :) I agree with her. I think everyone on this forum is going to be competitive, at least from what I've seen so far.
Good luck to everyone! Waiting time it is. :)
Looking back at old threads I'm guessing the range for people getting accepted is from a 3.3+ Overall GPA to 4.0's, but isn't to say that it's the standard rule for UTHSC because some people with high GPAs didn't get accepted. My guess is that majority of the students who get accepted have a pretty decent academic record considering they're are only looking at us on paper. No more interviews from what I understand so our academic record has to be spot on.
Hi everyone! I am also applying for Spring 2012. I have everything completed and turned in, thankfully! I have a 3.73 Pre-req gpa and a 4.0 in my sciences. I just completed my last class in the summer. I took my hesi and made a 90% overall. I believe my scores were:
80% a and p
100% math
90% vocab
92% grammar
87% reading ** last section I took so late at night! I should've done that one in the beginning! I was trying to keep my eyes open lol!
860 on critical thinking
I haven't checked my UT link recently but I need to do so.
Thats the thing. People with low GPA's could have explained their situation during an interview, but that isn't the case anymore. For the people with strong GPA's and strong HESI scores there are greater chances of getting into the program. I mean a strong academic record is a direct reflection of a person especially if they're just looking at us on paper, but sometimes life isn't always so nice and grades slip because of personal hardships. I just hope that doesn't discount some really hardworking people from the running because usually they're the most driven and dedicated students trying to make a change for the better.
I just went to my Evolve account to see what the class averages are for the Hesi A2. Here they are:
UTHSC Hesi A2 Class Average's Per Section:
CT: 776 class average
A&P: 76
Math: 87
Reading: 86
Grammar: 87
Vocabulary: 80
I think most of us scored better than the averages. I'm praying that we ALL get in.
Hi all! I just joined this board and am applying to the Spring 2012 semester.
I have a quick question that I'm hoping someone knows the answer to since it is near impossible to get ahold of someone at the school right now.
Does anyone know how the Critical Thinking section is scored? My overall score is much lower than my average of the five different sections of CT. I'm just curious if one section is weighted more than another or something....
Thanks!

Yes mine says official document revived. I feel good about my HESI score 92, it's just that my science is a 3.0 and nursing pre3.32
