UTHSC (Houston) Spring

Published

This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)

I'm applying with the following stats:

Pre-req GPA: 3.21

Science GPA: 3.66

Overall GPA: 2.81

I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)

Good luck to everyone!!

Thanks @heavykey! Just got an e-mail from the lady and she said that everything should be fine, I will just have to submit another transcript after I finish my current courses if I am accepted.

My scores say the same thing. Received, but no scores. I think that's all that matters.

your science/prereq/overall gpa are pretty good according to the admissions requirements. straight from the uthsc website: a minimum score of 75% is required on each section (math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking). part of the application process includes submitting a $30 application fee. deadlines are deadlines don't be surprised if uthsc doesn't let you into the applicant pool considering there were tons of us who followed the rules by turning in everything on time, paid the application fee, and scored above the minimum 75% on each section of the hesi. you can try to call them to see if you can still pay the application fee, but then again i'm not sure if that's possible. it wouldn't hurt to call them to ask.

did you end up paying the fee?

you would have to take the hesi over, and i dont think they will let you

any one here applying to twu?

they say i can still pay the fee.

well i gess you can pay it and see if they consider your application they wont if you dont pay the prossesing fee

Hey everyone I'm applying for the Spring 2012 semester and I'm very worried about my low GPA!

Nursing prereq gpa: 3.450

Science prereq gpa: 3.333

Overall gpa: 3.0124

I'm a single father and have custody of my son and he had several hospitalizations that caused me to pick up some Cs and 1 F! But I've gotten As in every biology class including A&P 1 and 2, General Bio, Nutrition, Micro, is this something they will look at?

My HESI a2 was 88% overall.

That's why I wish they had interviews so you can explain that life happens, you are a good student who had some unfortunate events

Your scores are pretty awesome. I wouldn't worry too much about them being low at all. You've got alot of good things going for you especially because I think your gender MIGHT play a positive role in the selection process. Plus, having A's in Science classes and not repeating them are both a good indication on how well you'll comprehend material in the nursing program. Goodluck!

So when does everyone expect to get letters of acceptance? Previous posts, for the Fall 2011 intake without an interview, received notification 45+ days after the application period closed on Jan 15th. I'm assuming that we'll hear something by possibly mid to end Oct. Previous posts also said that they saw an increase of holds listed on UTLINK if they were accepted. I guess I'll keep an eye out for that.
