This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
Good luck to everyone!!
Same here! Now that my apps for UT and TWU are in and being processed I have to focus on my schoolwork. I'm taking pharm this semester (even though I've heard UT won't take the transfer) because my school only offers patho in the spring. Figured it'd make my first semester a tad bit easier if I get in. Also taking an honors computer class, french, and philosophy. This will be fun! Philosophy was my only pre-req left, the others are for graduation. What classes are everyone else doing in the meantime?
Nursing prerequisites GPA: 3.942
Science prerequisites GPA: 4.0
Undergraduate GPA: 3.672
HESI Critical Thinking - 850
HESI Cumulative Score - 95.33%
Talking to some other students in my class, there are some who have better stats, and some who have worse. My scores are probably in the upper-middle range. My lowest HESI score was 80 in A&P, which I thought for sure would eliminate me.
About 1,000 people applied to my class, and only 130 were admitted. The Spring class usually has less applicants, but your class will also have only 80 people.
Our application deadline was 12/31 and I found out on March 3. The first person on AN might have found out 1 or 2 days before, and people continued to be notified for about 2 weeks. They didn't do any interviews for us, but they were also working on the admits for the Bacc2 program that started in the summer. Since your class is the only class they're working on, hopefully you'll find out sooner. :)
It's only been a week, but so far I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I was scared to death after Orientation, thinking it was going to be impossible, but now that the first week is over, I realize it will be very challenging, but manageable. I haven't met anyone in my class who regrets choosing UTH. All of the professors are amazing, and the students in classes ahead of us have been very welcoming.
Trust me, waiting to find out is truly the hardest part!
