This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum... I finally registered after peeping for a couple weeks! I am applying for the Spring 2012 at UTHSC. After a week of studying and stressing, I took my HESI today. I used the evolve study guide, quizlet, and a couple other things to study. Here are my scores:
A&P: 96%
Math: 94%
Vocabulary and General Knowledge: 76%-my heart literally dropped when I seen this score, almost didn't pass
Grammar: 84%
Reading Comprehension: 96.65%
Critical Thinking: 840
Overall Score: 87.09% (i took biology & chemistry even though they weren't required, didn't study so I made low 80s! hope this doesn't hurt me too much)
GPA:
Nursing prerequisites gpa 3.3220
Science prerequisites gpa 3.2500
Undergraduate gpa 2.9400
Went to UT-Austin, graduated with BS in Nutrition. Tough school for the average student, but I made it out alive! haha :)
It appears that my starts are only mediocre... I've seen a lot of great GPAs and stats. Wishing everyone luck!
@missevans I don't think your stats are bad! I am fairly certain they look at the overall HESI score first and foremost, anyway. I have not a clue what the cutoff is, but I would imagine an 87 isn't bad at all. It's well over the minimum score for each section, and you passed every section. Your nursing and science gpas are better than your overall, so that is good, too. Good luck to you! I am taking mostly online classes this semester so I am going to be on this forum a lot! :)
I talked to the admissions office today, and they did say that they look at qualifying on the HESI 1st. Then if you qualify there, they will move to GPA. My HESI overall was 94... So fingers crossed!! The wait is the worst part!
@spring hopeful I didn't know they looked at those first. I wish we had some kind of idea what the cutoff is going to be, or at least the average, but all I've heard is that it varies so much between semesters. Does anyone know what the previous HESI cut off was for the fall 2011? I doubt they released that info, but the should. :)
If they look at HESI scores first then all of us in this forum should get in. I believe there is some magical unicorn formula they use to rank the students according to HESI/Overall GPA/Nursing GPA/Science GPA/W's and how many of the prereqs have been completed. In the meantime I'm just gonna keep myself busy until admission letters are sent.
I am also applying for the Spring and I am super nervous. I have already sent everything in, so now it's the waiting game. I have one class to take this fall but my Science GPA is 3.8 and my Pre-req GPA is a 3.6. Hesi average was only a 87%.
