This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
I got my email today. My GPA is 3.7 and Hesi is 91%. I know there are probably applicants out there that got higher points than me, so I am curious how they select.
All I can say is keep your head up. I know it sounds cheesy and over rated, but this is the 4th semester I've applied to, and the first one I get in to a school. If you dont get in, keep trying. If you do, we deserve a huge party! :)
I didn't receive an email but my utlink status said I had been provisional accepted and that my letter was in the mail.....I also don't know their selection process but I am thrilled to b apart of such a great school!!!!!

my gpa is 3.95 but hesi is only 87 n i think because of my hesi score that keeps me away
Just keep waiting. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm just trying not to obsess about it anymore because it really irritates me that people with our stats are getting waitlisted or not hearing anything back while others with lower stats and HESI scores are getting in. I have a 4.0 overall with a 92.63% on my HESI and I haven't heard anything. And I applied and turned everything in on time and I don't have a criminal background and I wouldn't fail any drug test.
And I'm really not being cocky or arrogant because I know that the people that have been accepted so far are going to be great nurses one day and I know they're very worthy of getting into this school. I just feel like I'm worthy too and it really doesn't make sense to me why I haven't heard anything, but at this point I'm just putting all my faith in God and if I get accepted, then great, but if I get denied, that's ok because maybe I don't need to go to this school or maybe I'm supposed to hang around and start nursing school in the fall.
Like someone said earlier all I should really care about is that I'm going to be a nurse one day and that's all I care about :) that makes me happy.
Hey guys! I'm applying for the Fall 2012 BSN program but I've been following your posts and I am not looking forward to having to go through this waiting process in the near future! I have a question though: Were you guys interviewed or had they already stopped that process? My stats are pretty high and I have medical experience but now I'm wondering how they do pick who they accept because so many of you have such high scores too! I just wonder how they pick from so many qualified applicants??
@texasnursedude, I'm really confused if you don't get in because you can't get more perfect than your stats!

Yeah I'm confused too, but whatever. I should've applied to other places but I was stupid and really thought I'd just be accepted right off the bat because that's what counselors at different schools told me.

I got it in email. Just checked UTLinks, it said I was accepted.

I know exactly that feeling! I just did that in UTlinks. I am waiting for the letter in the mail because its too good to be true!
