UTHSC (Houston) Spring

Published

This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)

I'm applying with the following stats:

Pre-req GPA: 3.21

Science GPA: 3.66

Overall GPA: 2.81

I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)

Good luck to everyone!!

Specializes in ICU.
Yeah I'm confused too, but whatever. I should've applied to other places but I was stupid and really thought I'd just be accepted right off the bat because that's what counselors at different schools told me.

txnursingdude - I TOTALLY know what you mean about not applying to another school!!! I was so stupid and I assumed I would get in. Now I'm sitting here with nothing.

I will apply to UT again and apply everywhere else. I will retake my HESI, although I do thin my score of 90 is fine. Hopefully we get in for the fall :uhoh3:

Just curious the people here with great stats what is your race and age?

Does anybody on here know if I need to take the TEAS before apply, or if I can take it after I submit my application? I've heard that they will, but I wanted to check.

Sorry..... I posted that on the wrong thread.... Whoops!

hey guys i have good news?, anyways i called the registrars office to take care of a hold and the i asked the lady if i had gotten in, because i figured there is no reason to waste time i did not get in, and she said it was pending status, but then she said that was not a bad thing because the nursing department is still not done making decisions, she says there are still applicants that have not had their application seen. so the 14th is their decision deadloine and 15th the mail out date. so she said i should not look at "pending status" as a bad thing because they are not done

I meant to say the people with gpas higher than 3.5 who did not get in what is your race and age? Those are the only 2 factors that were not revealed here. I agree that the hesi score cutoff was 90. Or that at least appears to be the pattern.

sounds crazy but you might be on to something

I agree that there could be something to this. Another thing I think might be a factor, what is yalls financial status..... I mean do you currently have financial aid? Or paying out of pocket? and I saw that there are individuals who have gotten in with a score less than 90, so that probably wasn't the cut off. I just wish I new what they were looking for from their applicants, and those who have been accepted. It seems like those that have gotten in don't Have any one thing in common right now  My mother teased and said that they just put all eligible applicants into a bowl and draw out their new students :uhoh3: I sure hope that's not true!!

Good luck to those still waiting :D

I don't think it's financial aid at all. It's all in the information we submit on the application. This is my third attempt to get in to UT granted I'm not the best applicant my past college is reflective in my overall GPA. I have watched for 3 terms now many qualified applicants with great stats not get in. When they conducted the interviews those with great stats who did nit get in blamed it on the interview. Perhaps appearance was the motivating factor in the past but this could not be proven. Now the only factors are what each of us submit. Hate to throw the race/age/gender card in but it can not be anything else well of course the bowl scenario but I think the program it to far at risk for that type of selection process.

*is to far at risk.

I didn't get into UTHSC but my application still says pending. I wonder how many applicants application still says that? If they didn't get accepted, does the UTLink status change or will it still say pending?
