This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)
I'm applying with the following stats:
Pre-req GPA: 3.21
Science GPA: 3.66
Overall GPA: 2.81
I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)
I'm wondering if they have randomly divided the apps into several stacks & then are choosing a certain number of people from each stack based on stats???? I don't know, but am praying there's still hope!
I stumbled across your thread. I am applying to the Accelerated Program at UTHSC Houston in Summer 2012. I haven't had a chance to work through the entire thread. Do you know if you were accepted? Your gpa stats are similar to mine. I am scheduled to take the HESI next week.

BS Accounting (WHY??)
MBA Finance (WTH?)
Overall Undergrad - 2.87
Nursing prereqs - 3.73
Science prereqs - 3.50
I am currently in A&P II at HCC. I have Micro and an Art class remaining in the Spring. I am also taking those at HCC.
This doesn't make any sense! How can they say they haven't even seen some people's application when they have already emailed someone saying they are on the wait list???!!! I assumed they were going to rank all the applicants and take the top 80 since they said all they were basing their decision on was GPA & HESI. If they haven't looked at everyone's application then what are they basing it on? This feels very random (bowl idea is making a lot of sense right now)!
I just want to know one way or the other!!!! Agghhh!!
exactly, thats what i wanted to ask, how could they not have looked at some applicants but have waitlisted people?!
Well, I hate to think race but under the circumstances, I can't help it. I have a 4.0 in everything - all first attempts and a 96 on the HESI. This is my second time applying I'm yet to hear anything back; meanwhile I got into TWU and UTMB easily. I'm a black female with a very ethnic name. My husband says it's cos they are scared of my name...lol.
i have heard that some proffs atuth are racist but i never gave it much thought, they were minorities that told me that, made me kinda nervous i dunno....
Has there been any new acceptances? The deadline is on Tues. and I haven't heard of any new people getting in. I am beginning to think that the "they aren't done yet" is a line of bull!! So sick of this!

I think its bull too. They can't form a waitlist without viewing all the apps
I think they are done. I'd be surprised if they aren't. My stats are 2.89 overall, 3.34 nursing, 4.0 science. Hesi 84 1st. I recall reading somewhere that UT didn't have to follow a race requirement. I'm half Hispanic and half anglo thinking now if anything would have changed should I checked Anglo, lol. Following this for forum for 3 semesters plus I was interviewed when they did have interviews its obvious there is an "ideal" candidate for UT. Too young may be considered too young and the same with too old. Race well let's just say take a look at past classes I'm sorry but it is way too obvious. I'm totally convinced.
I am going to decline my seat for PV. I believe I spoke with you on the ph. I got a call from Ms.A last friday 11/5. She said she was sending my package on Monday and I still have not received it. I only live 10min way from the school!
I just found out that I got accepted to UT this week on Wed,UT send me everything through email step by step that I need to finishing doing before enrollment.
My heart goes out to everybody that is still waiting to be accepted. My heart literally beats faster when i think about getting into nursing school. I pray several times a day that I would be favored. This is like my third time applying to this school and my utlink hasnt changed. Ill never give up on becoming a nurse. Its been in my heart since i was 14. People may say that its time to look at other options but i wont. Im only 21, to most people that may saeem young, that my life is just beginning. To me it feels like its going to fast and I havent accomplished my goal. Hopefully, by the 15th the link will chnage. Because when that happens i will literrally run outside into the middle of the street and Thank God screaming. I know it sounds extreme but you would do the same if you had a heart like mine.
