UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

Well nici0513 I have not gotten an email yet with acceptance info. I have just been accepted via myUTH. That green check was honestly a surprise to me. I had counted myself out bc I didn't get any holds.

And another thing, I am currently taking my last 12 hours at SJC, and I've never had any holds or to-do's on my account. I've always had a green circle showing my application as complete, untill tonight.

Yes Hemphia, I think we are all grasping at straws because we are so anxious and want an answer. I know I'm going crazy just wanting to know something and I'm going to be giving my seat up (IF I get accepted) because I'm applying to UTA Spring start!! I can't even imagine how everyone else feels. But, when I just met with my nursing advisor at UTA it was in the middle of them accepting everyone for Fall and she told me they were only doing early morning appointments that day because they needed the whole staff to work on entering in all the application statuses. I'm sure they have different people entering different apps at different rates and speeds. So there is really no way to tell what something means until we actually see the word ACCEPTED!

Accepted. :)

Overall gpa: 4.0

HESI overall: 95%

A&P: 92

Math: 100

Comprehension: 87

Grammar: 98

Vocabulary: 98

CT: 830

So we have confirmed that if we have a check mark at the admissions page, we have been accepted? Because I'm having trouble believing I have actually been accepted. I accepted admission and now my check mark has changed to a yellow triangle, but I have many items on my to do list. Has this occurred for everybody else?

I can't log it!!! this is so frustrating. Are people getting their acceptance for the fall through UTlink? Whats going on? Anyways, congrats to everyone who has gotten you!

Are you trying here?

@polysaturate...You have to check myUTH, not UTlink. They switched everything over.

OH you're right. I'm been checking the MyUTH.. I keep saying UTLink for some reason. Tried it again, still not working. I wouldn't worry everyone. I got accepted to UTHSCSA and they split their admissions into two days. Alphabetically too. Just unfortunate, that my last name is towards the end.

@polysurate same here do not worrry!

what letter does your last name start with?

Hi Guys,I'm SO excited that y'all are finding out that you got accepted. I remember being in your shoes. It was a painful process, but really worth it. Some of you may have read the previous thread from the Spring 2012 start date that was started by me. It's full of good advice!!Someone needs to start a Facebook group called UTHSC SON Class of December 2013 as soon as possible. The current students have TONS of information for you regarding everything from parking to books to student life and beyond. We are here to help:)It took about a full week for all of the acceptances to go out last semester, so don't fret if you haven't heard anything yet. The entire MyUTH system was down for two days last week. We also had wait listed people that didn't find out until the weekend before school started. Congratulations and we can't wait to meet all of you!Ps. DO NOT BUY all of the books on the "required" list until you asked someone if they actually used it.

me me!! same happened to me!!

the yellow triangle thingy after accepting

Don't you remember last semester when we applied that EVERYONE had the same two holds? It was only when the holds increased that it meant they were accepted. I believe we all started with CPR and one other hold as standard but they added, drug screen, background check, final transcript, immunizations and you have to send them $50 so they won't give your spot away. It's normal to be stressed.
