Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:
Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75
Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0
Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.
My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -
Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30
Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )
Overall Gpa: 3.28
Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.
My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.
Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!
I would consider a green circle as progress at this point...I still have the triangle...triangles are now my least favorite shape. This is my first semester applying (Fall 2012) and I am still waiting on a verdict. I went to one of the UT-SON information sessions and I remember them saying that if you don't get in they just don't notify you in any way. That is why my yellow triangle makes me nervous...if i had a green circle of completion then at least I would know that everything gotten processed correctly on their end, but this way I don't know that. I got 2 transcript evaluations and confirmation on my Hesi so I know they got everything, but things can always happen. I had good grades and great Hesi scores so at this point, if I didn't get in I would really wonder why. Some people mention having 4.0 GPAs and high scores on the Hesi but say they still didn't get in, so, like desjt3, I would like to know why that is. I have 12 of my 16 science credit hours. I am lacking 5 classes, but am enrolled in 4 of them now and plan to take the other in the summer. If they don't admit you because you are lacking a few classes then they shouldn't tell people they can apply with 40 credit hours. I know people that have gotten into med school with grades like myself and the rest of you have posted, so I also am looking for a commonality between people that don't get accepted.
Hello everyone!
My admission status had a green circle for the longest time... An hour ago the accept/decline choice came up. Cannot remember if there was a green check. Goodness I was to nervous! So I accepted and it even said I'm accepted. I had no holds at all and still don't have any. Instead my to do list has new stuff: CPR, drug screen, immunizations BUT my status became a yellow triangle!!!! WTH!! I'm I waitlisted????
anyone...?
Thank you!
Stacymonique- I know how you feel! I went to UTHSC campus last fall after I was denied and personally asked them what I should work on to have a better chance of being accepted this semester. They told me my stats were wonderful, I was very competitive, and that there really wasn't anything else I could do because my stats were as good as it gets. They also said that they were not legally allowed to disclose the specific reasons for denial. I was told to definitely re-apply. I also applied to both UTMB & TWU this time around, and was accepted to both.
Whatever they use to decide, it is totally hidden from us, and all you can do try again.
BTW, no green check for me yet. I have a feeling I'll be getting a denial letter in the mail Monday.
Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!!!:)
