UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

hi guys i'm applying for the fall as well but now I don't know, because of this semester. I have one more semester left but when it comes down to the wire everytime, I start having anxiety attacks and worring about my gpa. I take my Hesi the first week in December, my current gpa is 3.67 and my Science gpa is 3.333.. not so good. I still have Chem, Stats, History 1302, and Intro to computers Just in case I don't get in there I can appy to PVamu... My head hurts so bad it's about to explode.. I have considered the Respiratory Care program as a back because of the not getting in the first time around. I try to manage to keep a good gpa with a full time job, and being a full time mother of a 10yr old and 2 yr old, but it's getting harder and harder.

@meg you must have TSI scores or be exempt. It's a part of the admissions process.

ladydeeb4213, then you should not worry about the TSI for UT but you can always send them an email to be sure about that.

Meghana09, I do not know what to study for critical thinking but for A&P I would not rely on the study guide...... I would actually go over the A&P notes from school.

Gillty, wow..... a full time job and taking care of two young children must be hard. You have done great in school and your gpa is very good.... I salute you...... Try not to be very anxious about the test, just prepare for it well and have a good night sleep before taking it.

Best of luck to everyone and hopefully all of us r gonna get in.......

@gladiator, I called they said they'd see it on my transcript! :) :dncgbby:

awesome, they send me the same thing just a few minutes ago..... lol

Well.... I've submitted my prints to run my criminal background check. Now I'm just waiting for them to mail it to me, should have it in a week or so. I sure hope that the MIP I received at 19 isn't there..... Hoping it fell through the cracks.... Since it wasn't brought up when I had my background checked to get licensed in TX for P&C insurance. Keep your fingers crossed for me........ Oh and FYI - for those of y'all who have spoken of getting yalls done, you will still need to do it through the nursing programs company. I'm just doing this for myself ;)

I've also thought about taking the Teas to give me more options but what to study? i'm hearing its easier than the hesi, then i'm hearing it's harder then the hesi. I haven't taken either one so I cant say, but it would be nice to know what to kinda study for, for both.

Does anyone know how long it take for an transcript eval. I sent my scripts back on Oct, 21st and call last week and said that they had me converted to the new system and not Ut-link anymore and on the new system I don't know where to find that they recieved them.

I'm not as to your transcript, but I say buy the study guides for the tests your gonna take. They each have their own study guide. I've already taken the HESI, and I'm scheduled to take my TEAS Dec 29...... I bought the study guides for both. Also check out the nursing student forum, they have several posts about the tests on there. Good Luck to everyone :)

I've just sent my transcripts a couple of days ago but should I wait until I've taken my HESI in Dec. to send the actual application?? I haven't sent it because I was waiting until I take the HESI so I could input my scores on there, does anyone know if I can send my application without the HESI scores on their yet?
