Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:
Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75
Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0
Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.
My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -
Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30
Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )
Overall Gpa: 3.28
Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.
My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.
Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!
Desjt3.... In ny experience taking ap2 & Micro isn't too hard. Everyone I know whs done it said they followed similar info for a bit. My friends said that it did make it easier to study certain info, but that they still have their differences. I took Chem with Patho (like AP on steroids) and those classes are so very different. And I knew a lot of info in Patho from my previously taken AP classes. Good Luck to you though.
No problem everyone! this site has helped me in more ways than one so anything I can help with is awesome! I would say just keep calling but if you know you requested them way in advance from your previous schools, they probably have them. I was in such a panic that I called UT, and emailed my school about the transcripts saying it was URGENT that they send those off. Luckily, I got a response from my school saying they sent them as soon as my request came in and then UT called back, searched around and confirmed they had received them. Call your last school, and keep calling UT. I have learned that if you want anything done you gotta do it yourself! Stay on top of both ends :) and GOOD LUCK!
Hemphia, that's awesome! Ive heard Chem was easy then some say it was hard, same with Micro. I guess I'll know once the course load hits me Good luck to you too!!
Thanks for the luck, im going to Need it..... Lol!! I'm gonna have a heavy workload this Spring too...... I'm going to be taking Statistics, Govt 1, Hist 1, nutrition, & Organic Chem (Chem 1 was hard, and it made me want more) it works out since I eventually plan on trying to get into a Graduate Anesthesia program.
your est et might e studying to take the clep chemistry test to get credit for chem which will make the 8 hours
UT won't take that. You cant test out of something for degree purposes at a school but for UT you have to have physically taken the course. I tried this. I have a lot of credit I got from testing out of spanish and I hoped to used them for my 5 electives need and UT said no...

me too! Basically same classes this semester. I am a bit apprhensive of statistics. It sounds intimidating. I am still trying to decide whether I should take Statistics psyc or math. UT will take either but like you I am hoping to pursue a higher degree later I dont want it to be an isssue if I have psyc stats. Ill be done with all my UT pre-reqs this spring and in case I dont get in yet Ill be pursing an alternate degree in the meantime. Does anyone know what degree would go side by side with nursing?
My hope is to become a Nurse Anesthesia or Nurse Practioner however if I finish a bachelors before I get into UT (they take in only 9% every semester) I will probably apply for Physician Assistant Program
I have been going through the same problem with my UT link and my transcripts not being uploaded. I had to call UT three or four times before I finally got a hold of someone. According to her, they received both transcripts from both previous colleges I've attended, but the reason it's still on my "to-do" list is because I haven't finished all 60 hours. She said it shouldn't hinder my application process (since I have completed 54 hours) but I will have to send another transcript at the end of the spring semester, if accepted.
I am still nervous about the situation though because my application status says "incomplete/waitlisted" and the deadline is next week. I know I should trust the person that works there, but like someone else on here said, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.
My UT link still has my HESI on the To Do List even though I took it December 30. I have called repeatedly and they will not tell me if they have received my scores or not and told me to wait until the end of this week. I'm nervous because if I wait until the end of this week and they don't have them then I have no time to get this resolved! Has anybody else had this issue?

Hi ktdidit! I have had the same problem. I e-mailed them last week and all they said to me was that they had just received all the scores and they would be posted by the end of this week. It's very frustrating and I'm very nervous too...
I just got onto my UT link and I have no "Holds" and there is nothing listed under my "To do" list. Does that mean that they have everything of mine? With everyone saying that they still have items listed on their link I want to make sure that I should not be concerned.
Hemphia,
I think you should be fine. I have continued to check back and they keep updating my "to do" list. To be on the safe side, I would call the registrar's office. They have been quick to return my phone calls and have been more than happy to answer all of my questions!

ktdidit,
I was also concerned that my HESI scores had not updated because I had taken my HESI on December 29th. I checked back today and that has been removed from my "to do" list! Hopefully yours has updated too! :)

Thanks desjt3!
I will call them tomorrow and see if I can get an answer! I'm just worried that the schools I have requested them from are not working as quickly as I would like them to :)
