Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:
Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75
Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0
Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.
My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -
Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30
Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )
Overall Gpa: 3.28
Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.
My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.
Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

Please send me everything you have! I just finished my final for my last class of the semester and want to start praticing "hard-core". My email is [email protected] Thank you!
I dont want to freak anyone out and please correct me if I am wrong but I went to the orientation on August 10th and I was told the last month to take the Hesi exam was December for the fall applicants. The reason is because the testing centers send in results at the end of every month. So if you have it sometime in january they wouldnt receive the result till january 31st. that is why i decided to postpone my applicant for the spring 2013. any one else has heard this?
barb24 and future.nurse I just sent you a short suggestion review and the book Fundamentals Success A Course Review Applying Critical Thinking to Test Taking. I have some other things that might be useful that I will send later.
thanks so much for ur effort, i really appreciate it. The review has been of great help.

I recently attended the information session and they said that it was fine to take the HESI in January; that they would receive the scores in time. Hope this helps!!
Does anybody know when our UT link is suppose to start showing the first set of holds? Is it after the application deadline date? And does anybody know what the first holds are suppose to be?
I am unfamiliar about the HESI deadline dates. I do know that the school said that you must have everything to them by Jan 15.... I would recommend that you check with your testing facility as to when they send your scores. I have heard others say that you needed to test before a certain date, but then I was told by my testing facility that the school gets my scores almost immediately.
hi warning sign, my email is [email protected] appreciate it if u could send me those materials.thanks

I would highly recommend getting the HESI Assessment Review book, it was extremely helpful. I studied for the TEAS and HESI at the same time so the books I used were: HESI Assessment Review, TEAS review manual by ATI, and the McGraw Hill Nursing School Entrance Exams book. I would study then take the practice tests then whatever I missed I would study heavily until I could take all the practice tests and get a good grade. I found this tactic helpful especially on the science portion. You do not have to take Physics, Biology or Chemistry on the HESI. Make sure to eat something light before you go and take a light jacket ... both of my testing centers were cold! Good luck I hope you do great!
