UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

I think i will

fill out the application its on the ut houston page under apply now, and under bsn, when you send in the app then you can register for hesi took me 3 tries before it finally went thru, then send ur transcript, as soon as you take your hesi if u use the ut school code it will atomatically send it to UT, go to the uth website and look under bsn admission instructions it takes you thru each step.

Thanks saraiish

i am so grateful for explaining to me, i followed ur instructions and it really helped me. Now i have applied to the school, just waiting to take the Hesi a2, i am also waiting fo my A&P result. how did you study for the science portion on your hesi exam.

Ur welcome! Funny enough I did not study for AP section and I only missed one question. To be honest I did not. Study. All that much because of my class. Load the semester u took it but I made a 92 and decided not to take it again

I took the HESI for the second time and got a 95% overall and 830 on CT. I have a 4.0 GPA. My question is: I have already filled and sent my application, transcript, and HESI score so how soon should I ask them if they received those things and will I have to wait until about March to find out if I got accepted?

check your UTLINK account, it updates as they get it

TSI certified? I never took any entrance tests for college.... I was exempt from all of those because I did so well on the TAAS test (yes I know I'm old...) Does anyone knowhow things would work for me? Do you think I'll need to locate the paperwork from high school? Or will that info be in my transcripts?

dont worry its on your transcript

hi guys i'm applying for the fall as well but now I don't know, because of this semester. I have one more semester left but when it comes down to the wire everytime, I start having anxiety attacks and worring about my gpa. I take my Hesi the first week in December, my current gpa is 3.67 and my Science gpa is 3.333.. not so good. I still have Chem, Stats, History 1302, and Intro to computers Just in case I don't get in there I can appy to PVamu... My head hurts so bad it's about to explode.. I have considered the Respiratory Care program as a back because of the not getting in the first time around. I try to manage to keep a good gpa with a full time job, and being a full time mother of a 10yr old and 2 yr old, but it's getting harder and harder.

hey i remember you from the spring 2012 thread, we are in the same boat, but we are all in this together

sorry...I also forgot to ask; Does anyone know about how many students they accept each semester???

80 in the traditional bsn

:uhoh21: ok, more questions! I sent my application in last night and already received myUTH log-in/password. On my todo list it says I have to meet TSI satisfication, but I thought I would be excempt because of taking my pre-reqs??? Does this mean they haven't received my transcripts yet?? I didn't see a place to check for transcripts.

Oh, BTW, Thank you for the answers! I kind of a perfectionist and I have to make sure I've gotten everything covered!!

they always told me not to worry about it, it takes them forever, and i mean forever to change it

Hi. Everyone. I am new to this forum and I am considering on planning to attend UT Nursing Houston in the fall of 2012. If I don't get accepted I would like to try again in the spring of 2013.

Does anyone know the average gpa's of the applicants that applied in the spring and fall of last year or the year before last year?

i was in last years pool, and honestly its kinda random? anyways i saw people with 3.4 get in and people with all 4.0's not

i will be at the dec 18th orientation anyone from here who is there look out for me! or send me a message and ill look out for you, i will bring as much information as i find out to the thread
