Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:
Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75
Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0
Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.
My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -
Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30
Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )
Overall Gpa: 3.28
Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.
My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.
Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!
I have to say I studied the most for the a/p section, but mostly due to having a not-so-great professor for a/p2, I felt I needed to re-learn a lot of what I was supposed to learn there. I had a lot of questions on the heart (arteries/veins and specific valves) and some muscle questions. It's actually pretty general. My best advice would be to go through your old notes from those classes and study the most important parts of each chapter.
And yes, since it's a computer based exam, you do get your scores from each section immediately after you take them. I understand what you mean, but the good part is you get to choose which order you take the sections in. My advice would be to take your worst section first and get it out of the way.
The test is a lot easier than you expect it to be. A lot easier than the blue book example questions. With exception of the a/p, I was surprised at how simple some of the questions were. Good luck!
@D33D33-
My CT scores aren't on my Evolve account either. I would say just call UT to confirm they got ALL your scores (as I will too), but the lady at the testing center told me it could take up to three weeks.
@littleone126 & D33D33 -
To see your CT scores on Evolve have you tried clicking on the + next to "Admission Assessment Report", it expands and should give you details about each of your scores, including the CT. I was worried too when I couldn't see CT on my "Admission Assessment Report". It took me a while to realize I can expand it, since the + is so inconspicuous.
I'm also new to the site, but wanted to let folks know what my HESI scores were because I have been admitted for Spring 2012 to UTHSC:
Reading 95
Grammar 98
Vocab 94
A & P 92
Math 98
CT 890
I also took the TEAS V and applied to both UTMB and UH -Sugar Land for spring and was accepted to those two also. My cum GPA was 3.3, pre-reqs 3.7 and science 4.0. I wanted to have options and not put all of my eggs into one basket, so to speak, so now I have some decisions to make as to the best program for me. I am older and need to get to work ASAP and the UH program is a second degree one year program , although a very intense one year.
So I have my UT link up and they have my transcripts already applied. I also spoke to someone before I applied to make sure that they had my HESI scores already, and they did get them. So why does my UT link To-do say that my HESI is "initiated"? Does anybody know what that means?
Thanks!!
Hemphia,
Don't worry about the initiated status for your hesi scores, they just take sometimes a while before removing it from the to do list. The main thing is to verify with them that they do have your scores. Since they already told that they do, so don't worry, it will be removed soon. Hope this answered your question.

@littleone126 - Thanks for the help on the CT. :) Good job on the HESI! Try not to worry about your a&p socre. It will only make the waiting worse, and like you said, others have been accepted with similar scores.
Did you think the a&p section was very difficult? I am so worried about that section, because there is SOOOOO much information that they could possibly ask! Any advice? Thanks in advance.
Also, I have read that you get your scores immediately after taking each section on the HESI? Is that true? I wuold prefer not to see my scores until I'm done. I'm so nervous about taking this test!!
