Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

Ohh okay. Mine is still the little triangle saying "incomplete" bc I'm still enrolled in classes. Praying and hoping I get in!

Hang in there! I was on the waitlist too.

@paomich95

When did you get accepted from the waitlist?

I got waitlisted Oct. 24 and officially accepted November 4th.

Oh okay, awesome! Do you mind sharing your stats?

I also got denied today.

GPA 3.6

Science GPA 4.0

Hesi 86 overall

88 A&P

920 critical thinking

Guess my HESI score was too low.

My status still shows "complete," but I'm waitlisted.

this process is very uncool.

I need to find out soon so I can get all my stuff together and get my finances, vaccines, X-rays, cpr class and criminal background squared away.

.has anyone else moved off the wait list?

I was also denied today. I didn't receive an email, only an update in the portal. I also finally recieved a transcript evaluation yesterday.

Final stats-

Previous bachelor's degree from UT Austin

Prereq- 3.5

Science- 4.0

Hesi- 96 overall, 100 A&P, 900 CT

I was really wishing you'd get it. Maybe it's the best for you right now. Your drive is admirable

Thanks so much! (:

Maybe it is for the best... only time will tell.

Good luck to you on getting in!

Honesty, the frustration with the application process is just the start of headaches with UTHealth. I'm a current UTHealth student and while I don't regret going to UTHealth there are many frustrating things about the program, including the professors and the way it is run. If I had to do it all over again I would have looked more closely at UTMB based on the positive things I have heard about their program. If anyone has any questions about UTHealth let me know!

Hello Chiffy!

What are the things you like most about UT Health? What are the things you wish they could do differently?
