Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

OK so I already accepted UTMB back in June. But recently I got accepted to TWU and now UTH. What should I do??? Can I still back out of UTMB even though I already paid the $200 deposit and accepted them? I think I would much rather go to UTH.

Yes, you can back out of UTMB, but will lose their deposit.

Wow! Accepted to all 3!!

What are your stats?

If you pull out of UTMB, you lose your $200 for sure. I don't know if there are any other penalties for backing out. Is there a reason you're leaning toward UTHealth instead of UTMB? I've been researching both schools and I'm actually really leaning towards UTMB now instead of UTH or a local ADN program. I don't really know anything about TWU since I wasn't accepted (didn't apply) there.

Hi, all!

I know I'm EXTRA late; I received my acceptance email to the UTHealth program on the 20th and have been freaking out ever since! (by the way, congrats to those of you who have also been admitted!) I know they give us 10 days to either accept or decline the offer and I just want to make sure I can get everything taken care of (immunizations, titers, CPR certification) before I make my deposit. I'm so glad I found this thread; it's made me feel much better knowing there are others in the same boat. Although I'm super nervous, I'm also very excited!

For those accepted, did you all receive a transcript evaluation?

For those accepted, did you all receive a transcript evaluation?

Have you recieved one yet? I haven't been accepted/denied and I hadn't recieved one, so I called the school and requested one and they took care of it for me!

What number did you call? And who did you speak to? If you don't mind me asking. I haven't received one either

I have yet to receive one since submitting my application back in April. :( How long did it take for you to receive the evaluation?

I got mine a week after they received my final transcript, then I received a new one about a week after a correction.

Anyone know if College Algebra is still a needed pre-req? I received another email from UTHealth today saying the only outstanding courses I was missing was Govt 2306 and Art Appreciation which I am taking right now in addition to College Algebra (which I'm retaking because I dropped it last time). I did take Statistics this past spring and made an A, so I don't know if that trumps the College Algebra requirement or not because to my understanding, we needed both.

You need 6 hours of college math for a Bachelor's in any science, including nursing. It's no longer a pre-requisite for the program, however, the additional 3 hours are required as far as I know. That's pretty standard across the board throughout the US.

I received one of those in the mail about 2 weeks ago, but since I didn't know what that meant at the time, I called the admissions office because I thought that meant something bad :( They told me everyone who applied for the program gets a copy of their transcript evaluations regardless.
