Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

39000 applicants * an assumed fee of $60 = 2,340,000$ in a year.

More crazy. This is just not cool.

Thanks for the stats, pappa.

Did you make it into Yale, pappa?

Nope, I was waitlisted, and denied 3 days later. I ended up at another selective Northeast School though, which afforded me amazing undergrad opportunities, such as funding for my own undergrad research project, never would have happened at a larger school.

Also, in fairness, I was applying to a specific program, for non-traditional students.

My schools admit/enrollment was 13%.

Hey guys! I also just got my acceptance email yesterday. Congrats to everyone who got accepted already and good luck to those still waiting to find out! :) I was wondering if anyone knows how we get our CPR certification like is there a specific class we need to take?

I just received my email and got my acceptance!!!! I am so excited congrats to everyone else!!!

Pamela,

Sign up for a BLS Healthcare Providers class. The Junior League of Houston offers them free, you can sign up on their website. Or you can pay for a class, but make sure it's sponsored by the American Heart Association. You can find them on their website. I took an excellent one for about $60.

I just received my acceptance last night and I am beyond excited!!!! Congrats to everyone who got in!!

Hello to all! My name is Ashley and I have also applied to the UTH Pacesetter BSN Spring 2017 program. I haven't gotten in yet, but 2 of my friends have. I was so nervous and anxious to know anything, that I went up to the school to talk to someone in person. I was told that there are 1,100 applicants and that they will only be accepting 120. And that the first wave of emails was sent out Oct. 20. The next wave of emails will be sent out very soon!

Im not sure of my stats yet, GPA wise, but my HESI was a 89.6 overall, 88 in the A&P section, my overalls GPA is a 3.79 and I'm unsure of my science GPA... but I earned an B for both A&P I classes, an A for both A&P II classes and an A for both Chem classes. I am currently enrolled in microbiology. I just wanted to wish everyone the best of luck. This is all very stressful and we all have the highest hopes of getting in... I do as well. Everyone's stats are awesome and I hope all of us can get in. Stay positive! OH AND I FORGOT that the people who have gotten in have to pay $200 to save they're seat... they have 10 days to pay it... and if they don't they'll forfeit the acceptance and the school will send out for letters! I'll comment back here when I get more info.

Crispm,

can you you share your stats?

thanks

UPDATE

I had not yet recieved a transcript evaluation and it was freaking me out! So I emailed the school days ago and asked for one. I just checked my email and they have completed my evaluation and it'll be sent through the mail soon! I also have my official stats now:

Pre-req GPA: 3.7

Science GPA: 3.7

Hesi: 89.6 overall, 88 in A&P

And I also submitted 2 letters of recommendation, even though they did not require it. Fingers crossed! My stats are good but not great! Good luck to those (and myself) who are still waiting. The next wave of letters will be sent out sometime around Oct 30th.

It's so defeating knowing that they have to decline 980 applicants. I'm just praying and hoping for the best.

Ill comment back here if I get anymore info.

And guys, do not hesitate to call the school and ask questions, no matter how rude the people are on the phones! This is YOUR FUTURE! No one will fight for it except for you!

Who did you email? I've emailed 3 different email addresses (over the past 3 months) with no response from any of them. Each time I called, they basically said I'll get an evaluation over the next few weeks. Months later... still nothing. I hate to be incessant, but it's so frustrating because I submitted my app at the end of June, so I'm not really understanding the hold up. They should process apps in some type of order.

AHawkins,

I definitely understand. I submitted everything way back in April! And still NOTHING! But the lady I talked to works for the registrars office and her name is ********* Her office number is ************I was emailing back and forth with a lady from admissions and she was very nice, she told the ********* lady to do my evaluation and she did! But the email is just the generic admission email. So maybe call ******** office phone on Monday morning! **********is also very nice, as I talked to her on the phone as well.

Just keep trying. I know it's frustrating but you have to be persistent!
