Hello friends!
I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:
A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)
I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!
Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?
Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!!
I received my transcript evaluation just last week.
I dont have to relocate. I luckily live about 20 minutes from the school (more in traffic I guess, I will just have to work around that...I hate traffic!)
If I did have to relocate, I would probably try to find a place on the metrorail line. There is a stop right by the school. That would save you the cost and hassle of parking. The rent may be a bit higher, so you would have to do a cost analysis to see if it was worth it, but I personally think that the hassle it would save is worth a little bit more in rent.
For those relocating, I posted this on our FB page& thought i'd post it on here as well. Also, join our nursing group on facebook!! The name is UThealth Nursing c/o Spring 2018!!
Here is the post:
I relocated to Houston in August! Although we bought an apartment, there are tons of places to rent. This area is a bit pricey but can fairly cheap with the right roommates.
Some places off the top of my head: parque view apartments, UThealth student housing, 2111 Holly Hall Apartments, Scotland Yard apartments, Equinox. You can also look on Relator.com for apartments that are being leased by individual owners! These are just the apartments near where I live which is on Cambridge st. (About a 5 minute drive to the nursing school) I also love this location because they have a UThealth bus stop in the middle of Cambridge st. that'll take you directly to the nursing school!! Just some ideas.
