Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

Both of those sound good to me! Thanks for doing it! :)

I've noticed that people with high GPAs are getting accepted. How are people with average GPAs suppose to compete?

this game is not right.

How about UTHSC SON Class of May 2018?

Tesstex, hopefully this is just the first wave and they still have room for us! I'm hoping my HESI scores are high enough to get me there...

Tesstex, they send out the application acceptance letters in waves! So, they will probably send out more soon! You got this, no worries!

Also, could someone provide their full name or email associated with Facebook? It wont let me create it without at least one other member!

@izaguirl : don't lose hope just yet! My stat is very humble compare to everyone in this thread, yet somehow i got accepted. And yes they will still accept your even if you are still taking class. In fact, i am still missing a few core course (which i am taking this semeseter to barely qualify for the 40 hrs I didn't think they would accept me. It's my first degree too so i guess i am very lucky.

So hang in there! I think they are still updating portal for the next couple of day so keep checking yours.

Also good luck to everyone ! Hope to see you this spring 2017.

Quick question! On my UTH portal, I accepted& paid for my seat. Then went back to the admission status page where it said accept or deny, but now it says incomplete again...is anyone else experincing this?

That's exactly what happened to me. Glad I'm not the only one who's worried about this :)

Thanks for making the facebook page.

You can use mine! Laura Patton [email protected] :)

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted!!! Mine still says complete but I will be obsessively checking until I get some kind of decision.

My stats:

overall GPA- 3.6

science GPA- 3.2

HESI overall- 91.2 / 84 in A&P

CT- 890

My GPA isn't that great so I am super worried. If I don't get in I will have to apply to UTMB and make that drive from Houston every day. I'm going to get this BSN one way or another though. Just really hoping for UTH. Good luck everyone!

I hate to say it but I think UTMB is harder to get into. You enter all your information into the NursingCAS, I honestly think I made a mistake somewhere but no one was able to help me figure it out. They sent me an email that said my GPA was a 2.8 which is not correct, not even close. I wish someone would've taken the time to look at my actual transcripts instead of the incorrect info that I was not able to get fixed in time. I also think the TEAS is a bit more in depth than the HESI. The TEAS include some material IO saw in Micro and some Chemistry and you cannot use a calculator in the math section(at least i was not offered one).

I like the fact that UTHealth has their own people evaluating all the documents. Even If I could, I would not reapply at UTMB. Don't get me wrong, it's a GREAT place but I did not like their app process. UTHealth, I feel was clearer and easier, they did all the leg work and they know what to look for. I have not been accepted to UTHealth so I am not being bias. My test scores and GPA are average and I feel they are competitive.
