  1. I am not sure if this applies to every school but my aunt did her nursing associates at HCC and when she asked about the process, for a friend who got rejected who had a higher gpa than her, they told her that basically the nursing committee or board not sure what its called gets like a stack of applicants and they chose the best from their stack so like a 3.2 gpa might be the best in the stack of one person but a 3.2 might be one of the lowest in another person's stack. That was for HCC though, but I am not sure maybe they have a process similar to that one since the GPA's vary.
  2. Yeah, you can back out but like other people said you will lose your deposit. I had to do the same I applied to two other schools as more of a backup because UTH was my top choice school. For School A I had to let them know by the 15th of Sep if I would be attending so I accepted since I had not heard back from any other schools. Then just this past week I got into School B, they offer a BSN program and are pretty good but it was a private school, I let SA know I would not be attending I did not say why just that I would not be continuing with their program and they just thanked me for letting them know. Now I had not heard back from UTH so I accepted SB, and literally 2 days later I get into UTH! So again although I felt very guilty I told SB I would not enroll and to please feel free to give my spot to the next eligible student. UTH was my first choice when applying to schools however, just two weeks ago when I spoke to admissions the lady was very adamant that we would not hear back until the 15th of Nov, I did not want to end up without acceptance into any program which is why I had accepted SB before their deadline. Do not feel bad or guilty your spot will go to a person who was wait listed who may be counting on that spot! I think it happens often, for the most part they just thank you for letting them know and they usually wish you the best.
  3. Hey I know some of you also applied to UTH they have updated their portal system!! Alot of people have been getting their decisions!! If anyone wants to check!!!
  4. I just received my email and got my acceptance!!!! I am so excited congrats to everyone else!!!
  5. I signed and submitted their letter, however I am having second thoughts, I hear that their program is extremely difficult (I know there will not be an easy nursing program), however almost half or less than half of the students they start with end up graduating. That sounds a little weird to me! I know people may drop out but to lose almost half of the starting class!? How about yall? Have you decided? I am really waiting on UTH they along with HBU were my top choice. I signed it with HBU bc I do not want to rely on UTH and then end up with without any program if they do not accept me
  6. That is great!!!! Congrats!!!!! I wonder how many people they accepted this semester!? Will you be submitting your letter to the office or through email? I never asked but was this your first choice school or is it another school? For me it was between HBU and UTHealth as my top choice
  7. I FINALLY HEARD BACK TODAY!!! I got accepted into the program! The letters of intent are due by next Friday! Have you guys received an email? I had not noticed it when I first received it!
  8. Same here! I called again yesterday around 4 and they told me they have not heard back from the people that make the decisions. I really hope it is at least by next week! Did yall apply to any other schools besides HBU? I applied to HCC but as more of a backup since they only offer an associates, I also applied to UTHealth here in Houston but their wait is worse you do not hear back until the 15th of November!
  9. I feel bad I have called about 2 times and sent emails as well this week! This wait is horrible. I remember when I submitted my application the counselor told me they reach decisions fairly quickly and that I could call by the 1st of October. However, I guess it is taking them longer than expected, I was told the same thing early this week that emails would be sent out this week but idk what has happened. Well I am transferring from UHD.
  10. Thank you! Yes it really is! I am so anxious just checking my email! Where are you transferring from? Have you heard anything from them?
  11. @ATXnursehopeful Could you explain the BON background check? I applied to HCC ADN as a backup, and got admitted really early on in September, however they just sent me the email about the background check. Could I go ahead and start it? I was hesitant because they are not my first choice I am waiting towards the end of October to hear back from 2 other schools, but I am not sure if I should go ahead with the BON background check will that prevent me from accepting if I get into another school? I do not really understand how the background check works? Thanks in advance!
  12. Ok thanks Amier1025! I feel a little relieved I also turned it in but I felt a little bad because I know I will turn it down the second I hear back from another school!
  13. I saw that you also got accepted into the HCC ADN program. Did you fill out their letter of intent? I got accepted too but I was so hesitant on submitting something because I will not find out until this month what other schools I have been accepted too? I also went ahead and started all my shots, I was missing 3!
  14. Hey everyone, I have been reading many threads but unfortunately I have not found one for HBU for Spring 2017, so I thought I would start one. I am applying to their BSN, as my first degree, I am a transfer student. The following are my stats for my HESI and prereq courses: HESI Overall: 94 A&P: 96 Vocab: 94 Grammar: 92 Math: 96 Reading: 92 Critical Thinking: 950 My science prereqs GPA: ~3.65 All prereqs GPA: ~3.4 Overall GPA: ~3.2 Has anyone heard back anything at this point? I called the school and they let me know the admission decisions should be coming out within these next two weeks!
