Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

Okay thank you!!

crispm1124,

That is exactly why it says that. Mine is exactly that. The classes that I am currently taking are showing as in progress at the end of the transcript evaluation, since I was enrolled in them when I sent my transcript to them in August.

Someone in the other UT thread said that they found out they were accepted as an "alternate" for Spring 2017...

Hopefully they were mistaken because I don't know of anyone that has heard anything back just yet.

I think you/they mean "Alternate Entry", UTHSC Houston does not have one of those programs, but other schools in the UT system do. It's when a non-nursing major gets direct entry into a Master's of Nursing program.

Pacesetter is set up for post-baccalaureates getting a second Bachelor's. They began admitting non-post-bac students when they got rid of their traditional BSN track a couple of years ago.

Yeah, I've heard of the AE-MSN at UT Austin, but I don't think that's what the person meant. She said they got accepted to UTHSC for Spring 2017 as an alternate, so they are deciding to go with Chamberlain instead.

Maybe they were waitlisted from a previous semester or something? Who knows....

I saw that comment on the other thread, and I think that somehow the poster is misinformed. No results have been sent out yet, and I really don't think that one can even get an alternate position with a 2.9 GPA. Just my opinion....

Oh my everyone! It is October 18th.....the wait is killing me!

We should know something soon :)

Which post was this in?

I saw last year they sent out the first wave around October 26.. Which is really close. Idk if it'll be pushed back some since they extended the deadline but I guess we will find out!

thank you! i spoke to someone in the registrar's office yesterday and she confirmed that they will accept the course! now it's a waiting game.

It was in this other thread that isn't as popular:UTHSC BSN Spring 2017

Okay, while we continue to wait, I have another question for everyone!

What other programs have you applied to and have you heard back from them yet?

I applied to HCC Coleman as a backup, and I was accepted. I would much, much, much prefer to get into UTHSC! It will actually take 1/2 the time then if I go the HCC route.... but then again,UTHSC will be a much faster pace, and much more stressful (not to mention more expensive), but SOOOO much worth it!

Jen, you went to MCC???? I went to Triton in River Grove!
