UTH Cizik School of Nursing Spring 2021 (Pacesetter)

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I found this forum last night and figured I would create this for anyone who wants to discuss the pacesetter program for Spring 2021. The application deadline will be here before we know it! I will be taking courses at San Jac this Summer to finish my pre-reqs ( a lot of the unfortunately ). Hope everyone is staying safe and taking this time to prepare as much as possible. I had been volunteering at Methodist but unfortunately that has ceased for now. Post anything you’d like here!

Hi could any UTH students tell me what it's like at UTH? What are the usual clinical sites and what are the classes like? How would you describe your overall experience and atmosphere of UTH?

@Cedes3233 @Alba Murcia @Bryce Greene @DontWorryBeHappydid you have all of your pre-reqs completed upon applying? I'm trying to gage what is going to help me get accepted. But it seems so random. My college GPA was poor. But my prereq GPA for this nursing program is 3.75 and my science GPA is 4.0. I'm wondering if I could come tour the school or talk to advisors to help put a face and a personality to my application. Thank you again all, for sharing your knowledge and time. ?

I had one prerequisite to complete when I applied. Your GPA is good, so definitely apply. When you do the application, wait a few days to send your transcripts, because their system takes forever. I had to send my transcript like 3 times because of that issue LOL.

Your scores are good, there are some wild cards in the mix we don't know about... they aren't doing tours at the moment I'm afraid due to COVID. Your HESI is going to be a key thing as well.

Have waitlisted people been told of a decision yet?

It doesn't work like that... so for example someone turned down their palce yesterday...someone will be offered that place... a friend of mine turned down his place last Spring due to family issues a few weeks before he was due to start. People get taken from the wait list after the 10 days because people still drop out or at least used to... things can always change.

Ohhh gotcha thank you for clarifying! I didn’t understand the process in the case of waitlisting. Thanks!

No worries, the thing is things can always change from previous semesters as well, but I'm pretty sure that's how it will be.

@Bryce Greene since you had a course evaluation, could you tell me, did you have to take Texas Government? I have a bachelors and have taken 2 US History courses and 2 American Gov courses (they were poli sci and needed to get a bachelors in Texas). I'm wondering if I need a class that is Texas government specifically or if my two poli sci classes would suffice. Please let me know. And thank you! ?

@Bryce Greene I unfortunately think I found my answer :(. It seems I'll have to take Texas Government on top of already having to US Goverment classes

This might be a silly question but maybe someone feels like answering it :)... does the building have a fitness center for the students? Thank you ?

I work for UT and there is a UT fitness center. It is near student housing though (about 2 miles from the Nursing building). I know employees have to pay a small monthly fee to use it but am not sure if it's included for students.
